    Be aware that the author of Iron lies a whole lot about what Chrome does versus what Iron does.

    Do not use SRWare Iron, it is made by a less-than-honest developer who likes to spread FUD about Chrome so he can make money off Iron, by his own admission.

    If you want to not use Chrome, use Chromium.

    CRC has been criticized for certain things, they've taken those criticisms to heart and are attempting to deal with the problems

    From the posts earlier in this thread, it seems they are "dealing with the problems" by pretty much shutting down permanently. Which is a good thing, since they seem to have had little clue at all what they were doing.

    Yes, when you get a hold of some guy's phone for a couple minutes, you are going to set up your email account, log in, remember the email addresses of your friends, and send them mail.

    Or you can go on twitter and leave a message that all your followers will see. And no, if you have been missing for months and suddenly post a message, they are not going to think "nah, this is twitter, it's probably fake, we'll just ignore this".

    but if you do, you have complete control.

    I am not at all convinced that is true. Pretty sure you don't have control over the hypervisor. And you certainly don't have any way to stop Sony from doing mandatory upgrades. Sure, you can take your own machine off the net, but new machines aren't going to be vulnerable.

    The hack exploits a bug in the USB code on the PS3. A firmware update will render every single one those hack versions useless.

    That's nowhere near a victory of any kind.

    Perhaps because the things other companies make are utter shit in comparison, even taking into account the things Apple might leave out that you would like?

    While I'd be much happier if things didn't work this way, it's not entirely crazy. Parents exist to protect inventions, and the utility of the invention of h.264 is not solely contained in the encoding stage. The actual utility of the invention is that you can transmit video using very little bandwidth, so it makes sense that the patent should apply to the act of transmitting the content.
