I don't know whether this was parent's intention or not, but the link proves a very good point: There has been very less innovation (and change) since modern, idiot-friendly, GUI computers became popular. In the link, there has been very little change from the original Apple/Mac GUI (from the around 1980) to the current Mac OS X GUI except for the current GUI being more colourful and more eye-candy. In other words, a better-looking theme. (If back then computers were as powerful as the ones now, then the GUI would already been as eye-candy as now.)

Communism doesn't advocate "repression of all people thinking differently than the state way", "mass murder" and otherwise exploitation of people and it didn't happen as much or the way you think it did. The summary doesn't say Linux specifically, but OSS in general. And most Open Source OSes that matter are *nix systems so there won't be a "lock-in" since it's easy to switch between them. In fact, as far as lock-in is concerned, most system other than Windows are better as they *nix systems. But TFA is about cost, not lock-in. Again, OSS wins there.
For better or for worse, computers have become a very important part of the lives of people and this is only going to increase. Ditching computers now will be a very bad move. It would be like ditching printed books a century after Gutenberg died (Maybe not a century, maybe it took longer for it to spread, but you get my point)
Well, people using morse code probably *are* slower than people using full keyboards. But it's possible for morse code to be faster than keyboards as the finger motion required for morse code is very simple and fast (but does require more strokes to produce a single letter) as opposed to keyboards and the hand motion is almost nil. I've seen some pretty fast morse code readers and senders. And some pretty slow typists;).
This wasn't morse code against sms. This was the older generation (93 year old) against the younger generation (13 year old). And the younger generation sucks. Although I'm sure that even at the same age, a person using morse code can beat a person using sms.
No no no, the very small part of the OS that is the Linux kernel is all that matters and all statistics/analysis should be taken from that. And don't you dare mention that stinking communist (being that communism is bad in an absolute sense) RMS' name on slashdot. He just uses propoganda for personal profit.
