At some point in time, the job of maintaining the patchset to keep your kernel secure and evolving as you evolve your hardware and software usage will consume more energy than simply upgrading your kernel.
I think the only problem with your design is possibly that the belt couldn't generate enough fricton on the crank to turn the engine over. This would be less of a problem with modern engines with serpentine belts, but a belt still wears faster than a steel cog.
The ONLY thing that power steering offers you, for those who have never driven a car without it, is the ability to turn the wheels at a dead stop or slow speed.
Natural effort and the tendency of the wheels to camber into the curve while spinning are enough to steer a car that's moving at a decent speed.
Um, those are NOT electric trucks. Those are diesel turbine based electric trucks. Diesel turbines generate electrical power that drives motors on each wheel. Direct drive in a vehicle that big is prone to all sorts of problems with weight loading (picture putting your car in park while pointed downhill, now try and put it into gear).
The motors are high-torgue, but they cannot generate speeds necessary to move cargo economically.
Nevada not claim corporate taxes? I must be an idiot || fool || ignoramus, but I cannot imagine a single state, particularly Gambling Capital of the Word, not taxing corporate profits. It's so unAmerican.
Got references to back that up? (Genuine interest here.)
The French had an overdependence on this thing called the Maginot Line. The Germans, while afraid of getting beaten to a pulp by the guns of the Line, simply drove around it.
Had the Line surrounded Northern France, the German Stukas would have simply bombed them to bits, and then let the Panzer divisions simply drive around them.
. Reagan begat Starwars. . Gorbachev freaked out. Convinced Reagan to limit Starwars to lab testing only. . Congress freaked out when it saw the price tag. . DoD got pissed cuz their dream of raining non-noclear fire and brimstone down upon the heathens from heaven like the hand of god was put to death while in the womb. . Boeing and others concocted plans for building all the best parts of Starwars without actually having to build it.
Thank you for such an informative, and ultimately true, post. I've seen this working in large multinationals.
Remember, All. Microsoft won, not because they're technology was the best, or because of tying contracts. They won because of polish, and commercial developer support.
And Linux has trouble with both of those at the moment (although the polish is getting better).
It's not regressive. It's related directly to use. A person who cannot afford to waste money on gas won't be buying a Chevy Suburban or a Lincoln Navigator. They'll be buying a Camry or a Voyager. Though they will still be paying the same per unit tax, they will be paying less of it.
Simply taxing the same dollar multiple times. First when it arrives in your pocket. Second when you use the resource, Third when the purveyor of goods pays his taxes, Fourth when the government puts that dollar back in someones pocket ad finitum.
Ergo: We are all government employees. blah.
Such a simplistic view on such a depressing day. Catch me tomorrow for my manic version...
Really? Care to back that up? I have known quite a few people who've attempted suicide, and not a single one of them went to jail for it. Spent time in a mental hospital yes, but never prison.
And I've never known anyone who actually committed suicide who went to prison. Seems a waste, no?

It's a tradeoff.
Now, now to find machine guns with standard 25mm explosive tipped caseless ammunition. :-D

Otherwise, it'd be a fun exercise.

No one is going to get drinking water from 15 km underground.

A creature doesn't get to be a 10 ton monster by being an "opportunistic scavenger".
Aircraft changed all the rules.
And they continue today, firing missiles 400+ miles away at targets that can't hear or see them coming.
Fixed emplacements are doomed in a modern war. Witness Gulf War I and II.

Follow the bouncing ball for a moment:

. Gorbachev freaked out. Convinced Reagan to limit Starwars to lab testing only.

Ergo: ABL.
No, when people say they are outsourcing *development*, it's to India or Eastern Europe.
Space heaters you mean? The Onyxes and Crimsons were the worst. Huge mofo's. Prolly what, 8-10 cubic feet?
I'm not sure what was louder, the Crimson starting up, or that 727 I took to Norfolk, VA.
We used to have that... back in the early 90's... when a server MIGHT have 2-10 GBs of storage on it... and 8GB 4mm DAT drives were common.
But it's a passive reaction, not a broadcast that says "I'm here!"
Cover up your cameras IR emitter (either autofocus or blinking activity LED).
Worst you'll get is bright spots on the CCD from an IR LED.
For about $3000 US I can get you a decent 6.1 surround system and a 120 inch HDTV.
:-)
The big screen experience can be had in your home for what you spend on beer and skanky hos each year.

Which is funny, because these companies are big enough and stable enough to BE their own registrars, hence not have this problem.
That must be the Slashdot Correlation Effect, where a website completely separate from the posted article gets /.ed.
Neeto. Yeah, I just locked my domain at godaddy, and verified that my 3 at NetSol are already locked.
Not sure why godaddy didn't take the lock by default, tell people how to unlock route? Better to be seen as doing too much than too little...
no, it just leads to short weekends, and the Japanese office being unable to work Sunday night. :-)
It should be a rule at any multinational.
Speak slowly: I. Don't. Have. One.
Same when they ask for my address (Radio Shack, but not my bank).

Fuel is not a basic living expense.

Might be an option if they could fix the story dupes... :-)
