With all due respect, they killed themselves. It's tragic that they decided to take that first hit without knowing what they were getting into, but you can't blame that on suppliers, even if they advertise (unless you\they felt threatened to buy the meth). Strong statement I know, but so is accusing me of supporting killers (though I pay taxes, so it's technically true).

They did take measures to expand. They have just been continuously underestimating future demand since launch (as everyone except hte most rabid Nintendo fanboys have)

So why were they worried about overestimating demand? Because if the Wii wasn't the success it is, they'd have to tear down a bunch of factories.

Nintendo is a pretty big corporation (and was before the Wii launch). I'm pretty sure they have several people more qualified than you (or I, or most people for that matter) looking over these details.

Yeah, it's a treadmill. A gaming site goes up with good intentions, people flock to it because it's good, the site grows and the owners (shareholders or otherwise) get greedy, the site becomes a bloated money-making shell of its former self, and along comes another little site with good intentions.

That applies in a lot of industries. Seems to depend on the industry (as well as the company) on whether the bloated shells slowly die or continue to pull in good money.

The other possibility is this: say you know you're not fitting into your new role in the company and you figure they're going to give you the boot pretty soon. What better idea than to focus on the negatives of the game that has a huge ad budget for your site. Who in their right mind would fire you at that point?

Personally though, I'm joining the mob. Any spare pitchforks?

    2 cents incoming:

non-profit groups are just like any other corporations. The company doesn't make profit, but people are still earning their rent\mortgage running them. Company growth = less chance of getting canned + likelihood of increased salary(?). Not sure exactly how salary increases work in a non-profit, but I'd be surprised and elated if they didn't exist.

Does anyone have actual info on paid positions in non-profits? I'd be interested to know just how similar (or not) they are to regular corporations.

But my point is, these people with paid positions in the company have something to gain from org growth (even if it is just job security), so at least a little (if not a lot) of corporate greed bleeds into the bigger non-profits out there.
