I exactly agree. It's like candy - it's fun and not very nutritive. Sure, the books weren't LotR but what is? I absolutely loved the characters. I hope the best for this film.
I anticipate that the movie will be like the Terry Pratchett movie adaptations, to be honest. Not the best, not the worst. Quirky and fun for those who already loved the world.
Oh saying they taste pretty nice is a sort of charitable exaggeration. I really didn't care for the taste. I saw someone describe them as "hummingbird vomit" since they are so sweet.
I hope they didn't spend too much on that research. That didn't seem very groundbreaking or particularly informative. Intellectually curious? Who is going to say "No" to a broad question like that?
That being said I suppose I'm surprised the percentage of "intellectually curious" is that low.
I used to really enjoy TechTV. I really liked Screensavers. I really liked reruns of Thunderbirds!
But now all I watch is the occasional X-Play or Cinematech, and is it just me or has X-Play been getting more and more foul-mouthed? If the demographic age is dropping why is the nsfw component skyrocketing?
The whole channel has very little appeal any more. If I want to Cheat I'll go to gamefaqs.com. It's not a smart or clever channel any more. It has become just loud and annoying.
YES! I didn't know anyone else anywhere ever had played The Tone Rebellion. And yes, the soundtrack on that was really great and relaxing. I don't think my copy came with a CD soundtrack, though; I had to pull it off the game (but it was MP3s so it was no issue).
I have purchased CDs of game music for games I don't own - especially orchestral and piano versions of Final Fantasy music. Game music isn't all bleeps and bloops any more. I will definitely be checking out itunes for game music.
I agree with you _completely_ on feeling a deep sense of possession after using an online name for a long time. (Believe me I didn't want to stick A on the end of this name, but sometimes someone gets 'your' name first.)
I've had this name since 1993. (Ouch I feel very old now)
But I also said "Ah I bet it's because he used a pretitle in his user name" as soon as I started reading your article. Blizzard wasn't really sneaky about that rule.
That's ok, I make sure to drink Bawls while taking my beta blocker.
Oh good, I am glad I'm not the only one that still likes Nethack. Who will port it to the iPod first!
I still haven't forgiven them for making the book on Inform obsolete about a month after I got it in the mail. Progress is too fast even in I/F!

I think Shade haunted me longer. Brr! But Photopia was well written. Galatea haunts as well. Wonderful AI interactions.

I play WoW, my mom plays Solitaire. Are we still in the same category?
