I remember when tasers were first deployed. They assured us they would only be used for self defense and would absolutely never be used as any sort of 'compliance tool'.
Police are now so badly trained and so out of shape they can't even handle a 44 year-old, 80 pound Chinese woman, they have to resort to high tech weaponry.
If he becomes an elected official, the Australian government will be under a great deal of pressure to issue him an official passport and place him under diplomatic immunity.
It doesn't work that way. Diplomatic immunity is granted on entry to a country, not afterwards.
Whatever flashy headline was used to attract readers to the fact that there are potentially *a lot* of undetected large objects that could wipe us out was worth it. I mean, this is serious shit, and we are NOT taking it seriously enough
If a big rock was headed this way, what exactly could we do about it? More advance warning just means more days of fighting/looting/burning.
If a Raspberry Pi can run the latest distro, why can't a machine with eight times as much RAM, disk space, etc. run the exact same thing?
This is a joke, a complete betrayal by a man who ought to know better then to piss off all the people who put him where he is today. There's a REASON why some of us choose Linux over Windows (or should I say "chose"?)
No, the simplest solution is to shoot people like him.
How much would you like to bet that if he succeeds in manipulating the system he'll move all his bank accounts back onshore as a way of saying thanks to the system?
You might have a point if he was just some air-headed celebrity who never did anything except appear on TV.
He wasn't, therefore you don't.
This is the man who played duet with Einstein, made the maps used to plan the moon landings, and presented the longest running show in TV history with the same presenter (nearly 56 years!) - and it was a science show.
They sure could have tackled and pinned her to the ground
The only options that occur to you are violent ones...?

PS don't you have to be charged before you can be arrested?
Um, no. Almost any country in the world can hold you for a certain time without charges (eg. 24 hours).

I wish they'd be more explicit about the keywords that trigger it. Why not just tell us "put 'xxx' in the search" (or whatever).
I wouldn't mind them doing this if they also offered an "unsafe" option - filter out all the bland images that never offended anybody.

Just sit back and chill !! You can't do anything about it !! NO !! You CAN'T !!
Not as long as the disinformation campaign is running in the USA, no.
How did real estate in Florida ever get so overpriced in the run up to 2008, if anyone out there is taking rising sea levels seriously?
Simple: Only old people go to live there so they figure they'll be dead when it happens...
His tailor is a personal hero of mine.

NASA used his 'amateur' moon maps to plan Apollo missions...
Me too.
You can get brand new ones from pckeyboard.com
Why do you even need it? Most people only do facebook/messenger/youtube.
The NSA are digging their tunnels underneath the bank's head office as we speak.
This is science kid...
Which is exactly why it shouldn't be written like a suspense novel.
Quick summary for all the people who know the background, full story underneath for those who don't (or just like to re-read it...)
The article is way too long.
No kidding...and written like one of those awful Dan Brown novels... ("we'll tell you in the next paragraph, honest!")
Vista wasn't bad by design, only execution.
Windows 8 is a bad design. It should never have made it out off the drawing board.
