Definitely get a subscription to The Economist. You're probably going to want to know what's going on in the world, and the paper version of this will give you the broad-brushstrokes. Also, I think you're going to get bored and The Economist will kill several hours each week and you'll feel smarter for reading it.
Two potential problems. 1) Power consumption: this might be expensive to run all day. 2) Static electricity: rotating bodies, like fans, generate static electricity. With so many fans, I would wonder if, over time, you would start to see negative effects on the components.
namely because people, for the most part, already have to buy computers to do one thing or another. So why not spend an extra couple hundred dollars and get a sweet gaming console at the same time? In addition, PCs are better suited to quickly react to new technologies in the market. Consoles will not be the death of desktop video gaming.
The idea of these aircraft flying around NYC is absurd. In order to legally fly inside the airspace surrounding NYC, there are certain equipment requirements, none of which are met by the ultra-lights. And if you ask, "Well maybe they don't want to obey the laws?" then there's nothing stopping them now.
Well, the thing is, it depends on what your definition of dishonest is. He doesn't lie, per se, but you have to listen very carefully to what he's saying because he does have a perspective that he is trying to push. For instance, there is a segment in the movie where he is trying to get members of congress to sign their children up for the military. He says he is doing this because there is only one child who is Enlisted in the military. Well, the problem with saying this is that there may be offspring who are officers in the military. It is much more likely that a son or daughter of a congressman is an Officer and Officers are not considered to be Enlisted. So while there may only be one Enlisted person who's parent is a Congressman, there may be many more soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who's parents are. This is an example of how Mr. Moore portrays the facts, so people just need to listen very closely to what he says, because while he is not lying, me might be dishonest, but I'll leave that up to you to decide.
If I were you, I'd get a router that is compatible with 802.11 a/b/g. It's not too much more expensive and is worth it. I've got to say that having free wireless internet is the best thing a coffee shop can do. My local coffee shop (Caffe Roma on Columbus at Green in S.F.) has free wi-fi and it's great.
I know that this comment is going to get a low moderated score, but still I have to add my two cents. Paying for/. would suck. The whole point of the internet is freedom of information. The ads here are unobtrusive and they're not that bad, sometimes even useful. Also, you'd never get that many people to subscribe and the amount of money that you make would be negated by the pain in the ass it would be to get done. Ok there's my two cents.
Well, I checked out the website and the wheelman seems more powerful than my bigfoot GoPed (www.goped.com), but it is more than twice the price! Also, I doubt if these things are street legal in the US, and as for being able to ride around campus, well you can pretty much forget about that. The cops'll take anything away that uses a motor on my campus at UC Davis. The only way I can get around on my goped is if I don't use the engine on campus.
Although most of you are talking about your favorite CS teachers or computer related profs, by far the best teacher that I have ever had was my high school English teacher, Matthew Holdreith. My freshman year, he taught me everything there is to know about grammar (which I have forgotten by now btw). Besides grammar, he has been an inspiration in my life, and was just a downright good person. Thank you Mr. Holdreith.
A couple of years ago I came under a situation much like this one. Someone hacked into my ISP's server to get to my account and to my friend's. Then, they detected it, shut him down and then canceled both our accounts telling us that we were a security risk and that they could no longer offer us service because it put the rest of their customers at risk. 8P
If you find that your legal bills are costing too much, 2600 (www.2600.com) will take the domain off of your hands and fight your legal battles for you. They are willing to do this for any domain that they are given. It may be just what you are looking for.
It is by far the best anime in the world. It is a bit old, late 1980's I think, so the animation is not as beautiful as say, Ghost in the Shell, butthe storyline and the fighting are amazing. Watch this anime.
I agree on the whole Heinlen quote, however, you must realize that he also wrote Starship Troopers where they ran around in mechanized suits. Also, todays heavy and even some light infantrymen in the US Army do have nifty gadgets like GPS. Even though we have these however, at basic we still use the compass to cheek and center hold methods. It takes some time to plot grid coordinates, and if during that time you could just punch a couple of buttons an get where you were, and where you needed to go, it gives you more time to do important things like worry about security and the lives of the rest of your men.

In California, my go-ped is street legal and I can drive it in the bike lanes where available. No fines, just good riding.

I use Red Hat Linux myself and I'm constanly updating stuff, but I heard that BSD has something that automatically updates the kernel. True?
