1. Where does the money come from that offsets all the "huge" tax credits you want to see happen?
2. Where does the money come from to pay for all these mandates "Green" energy initiatives (all fed buildings must be solar, etc)?
3. What happens in the rest of the world, specifically China, India, and other 3rd world industrial countries, when the US is radically altering and weakening it's economy for all these measures, and the rest of the world continues down the path to their OWN dependence on oil?
We understand it, we just don't think it was funny. It might have been funnier if someone had played on the "vulcano" (as in, Spock the VULCAN versus an earth vOlcano)...
Garcia, my Constitutional rights and privileges haven't changed at all since 9/11 (presumably you're commenting about the Patriot Act). How have yours changed, and what liberties have you personally seen limited/been limited to as a result of the Patriot Act?
And when those "lusers" are completely unwilling and uninterested to learn all those nifty IT things that WE think they should know? They have their own work to do: why the heck should they have to learn to speak like us?? We're the customer support people, not them: we damn well better know how to converse with them and determine what they want/need, or it's US that should be fired!;)
Simple fact is most office people don't give a crap about that kind of thing, and will care even less if we try to make them talk like us!
I have no problem with profiling whatsoever... If you have repeated occurrences of old ladies in pink shawls (for example) committing specific crimes in a given area, then the authorities should be keeping their eyes on old ladies in pink shawls, not red-haired Irish men in kilts. Profiling is a dirty word because people let the liberals make it so: simple fact is that the authorities must keep an eye on individuals who meet the "profile" of people who commit the given crime. Someone whining about getting searched would be just as pissed if he/she was on a train that was bombed, and found out that people within a certain "profile" weren't being searched. The whole argument is ludicrous to me.
Easy solution here, too: either disable Flash (jeez, I HATE Flash ads), or use a free product like No! Flash, which blocks the damn things from starting.:) Very handy!

I've NEVER seen a Windows OS do what you describe, and I've been using Windows since Windows 286 (remember all those diskettes?). I have, however, had Linux (mostly RedHat, but a Slackware distro also) go tits-up on me, and I've not been able to recover.
So Microsoft wants only people running Windows to download Windows tools and such from a Windows site? Those bastards!!;)
Get over it. They can let anyone they choose into their downloads site, and all the whining in the world from a bunch of cheap bastards ain't gonna change that!:D
"Corporeal punishment?" Wow, physical and psychological punishment isn't enough, now you want to punish a person's soul, too?!?!?!
I doubt corporal punishment would be acceptable, let alone corporeal. But maybe if we got a bunch of New Age legislators, we could pass a whole bunch of corporeal legislation...;)
The Patriot Act was in response to a direct attack on the US by non-state sponsored terrorism, and our desire to combat such terrorism from killing any more American AND Canadian (amongst others) citizens. It's just a terrible pity that other governments choose not to do anything about the threats to their citizens, and in fact allow these terrorist cells to live and grow in their countries. Real pathetic. At least America is doing something about it.
And in response to the inevitable "shrinking of civil rights," I personally have had ZERO reduction in my civil rights/liberties, and I don't know a single person that has, either personally or from the press (demonstrably). If you aren't a crook or a terrorist, you've got nothing to be afraid of.:)
Try printing the whole chart in FireFox... good freakin' luck! Can't get more than one page!
IE, on the other hand, prints it perfectly.:)
Yup, IE wins yet another real-world test over FireFox!:D
More Linux on the desktop will be COMPLETELY USELESS if the software isn't there for people to use! Why don't you Linux lovers get that?? As a developer (c/s, web, SQL, etc) I need tools that will help me built solutions for my clients quickly, with a minimum of hassle, that runs without recompiles and linking and privilege settings and... on and on and on.
The reason I don't use Linux is the same reason I don't use a Mac: there are no tools available to let me do my job like there are on Linux. Period. You Linux developers need to start building useful, non-archaic looking software with good usability for the client before you try to start pushing Linux onto every desktop.
Early to mid-90's Jeep Cherokees, 4.0 liter.:) Mine is reliable as hell, parts readily available, and isn't burdened with a bunch of electronic crap (except a stereo/CD player).
And since it's a 4x4, it gets me places away from panzy-assed city drivers!!:)
Real biometic integration... Usable voice recognition (not something that only understands a basic voice pattern, or one that has to be trained for different voices)...

Prove this, without bullshit speculation and unsupported computer projections.
PS, someday entropy will increase to a maximum and *nothing* will be alive. That's a fact.
Prove it, again, without bullshit speculation.
Can't prove either? Didn't think so. Troll.

Pay high prices for Apple hardware to run Windows, when it'll run perfectly fine on cheaper hardware?
;)
Yeah, I'll get right on that...
Sounds like another case of the French surrendering again to me!! ;)
Or, better yet, "blackhelicopters.slashdot.org"
So, by your logic, your local paper boy is a financial institution?? The local Starbucks is a financial institution?
I'm amazed that people consider Wiki a reliable source of information! Haha!!
