My understanding (based on a youtube video I saw once...) is the photovoltaic cells don't capture all the energy of the photons that strike them.
They absorb some energy, converting the visible wavelength photons into infrared wavelength photons.
My question is, does this basically create heat pollution, which is trapped by CO2; while if the same area were covered by white/mirror surface, more energy would exit the atmosphere into space?
How about photocells that convert UV light into energy, and give off visible light (like Florescent materials, that also produce electricity...)?
I started the patent application process for using modified 3d glasses to split a screen between multiple player back in 1996, basic prior art search came up empty, but I didn't have the money to follow though with it, and what with the Pokémon flickering light seizures and the fact that console add-ons rarely sell well, I gave up on it. But I do have the paperwork describing it, and communications between me & patent attorney if proof of prior art is needed.
I've contemplated a language/library with extra strict typing for doing real-world calculations.
For example, if floating point variables x and x were be classed as 'Lengths', and you stated "a = x * y;" a would have to be classed as an Area.
If you then stated "a *= 2;" a would still be an area (of twice the size), but "v = a * x;" would return a Volume class, and "a = a * x;" would be a compile time error (trying to assign a Volume result to an Area class)
other included types would be Time intervals, with a "(time)a * (length)b" giving a Velocity class, and "(velocity)c * (time)d" giving an acceleration class object...
This can all be done with simple Classes, be my specific thought is that once the (pre)compiler is done with the extended type checking, it throws out all the overhead, and compiles to just using simple floating point variables. It's to catch programmer errors, not run-time errors.
My sister is currently suffering from the flu; she works at a pharmacy, so is exposed to a lot of sick people, but had an allergic reaction to previous flu shots, so she couldn't be vaccinated.
Why wouldn't prisoners be allowed to vote? One man one vote, no exceptions. Once you make exceptions you can justify anything like not allowing slaves or women to vote either.
That's a daft argument - on the same basis you could say that you shouldn't imprison prisoners or you could justify anything like locking up women.
Finally, someone who agrees with me that all women should be locked up in breeding camps from puberty to menopause.
Little Girls and Grandmothers are OK, but society should be protected from those monthly mood swings.
Why not root for a minor league team instead?
Also by the taxpayers to build 'infrastructure'.
And payoffs from the NSA for building their secret rooms.
So between quad and quintuple dipping by my count.
How about a spoiler warning, I haven't seen Top Gun yet.
I thought this was about an agreement to not support anyone who goes on grey-market safaris, etc. to protect endangered species...
adjusted for inflation?

Perhaps one or more of these sites were running expoitable software, and were hijacked to serve porn without their owners knowledge.
I know of at least one federal agency that had a poorly secured FTP server loaded with child porn back in to 90's
Just like a new 'Highest Grossing' movie premier, or 'Most Expensive Flop'
Money related comparisons need to account for inflation.

I'm waiting for Kim Dotcom to release his own currency, 'MegaCoin' sounds pretty cool.
Please, let us have our antiquated copyright laws, 14-21 year term would be great.
Things working normally would never be 'news'.
I swear the Japanese police 'scratch their heads' so often, they should be checked for lice.
That would make every parent who let their kid play 'Angry Birds' on their iPad a pirate. So I don't think that's the case.
A high fever can cause permanent damage to your testicles.
Good enough reason?
err... 4 as in for, not 3 as in EQ Next, or whatever... just woke up...
EverQuest 3 lyfe, yo.
(No True Scotsman)
I've seen 3rd party lenses that contract the space requirements, didn't need it myself, but they exist.
Trading assigned days with other workers, it's a Union job with enough sick/vacation days, but those are saved for vacations...

It' more like applying the brakes after going off the cliff.
If it's not going to do any good, we would be better served bracing for the impact, instead of trying to prevent it.
Get ready for mass migrations, seawalls, and such, it's already too late anyway.
I always used to get accused of hax on public servers; now they can tell I am actually that good.
A friend of mine had a house fire whose origin could not be reliably determined. It's not all that uncommon for the source of a fire to be unresolved.
