Would the money have been better spent on a thousand hotel-room quality peices?
(side note, what I like to do with a painting is envision the area outside the frame, from clues in the picture; like shadows, reflections, and structural hints, and other hard to quantify bits; like a painting showing 3 people, but there is a table set for four... is the forth person the painter?)
What about Corel's products?, they are still pretty big.
I couldn't find anything on Linux to do what I could do with a ten year old version of CorelDraw for Vector graphics, so I bought the newest version recently (the older version was designed for windows 3.1, time to upgrade even if it wasn't 'needed')
Apperently, they even use Corel to make the Southpark TV show nowdays.
Microsoft, as such, isn't going to die for the foreseeable future; barring someone finding out that Windows XP causes Heart Disease, Cancer, Burns down homes, and gives you Bad Breath; but then, the Tabacco industry isn't doing too badly.
I'm predicting a cycle of corporate splits; that is companies spinning off business units to 'focus on core compantencys(sp?)' and to be more agile; why was MS so slow to catch on to the Internet back in the early '90s? and now they are behind on hand held computing.
Time to trim the excess beurocracy, increase shareholder choice, and get the DOJ off their backs maybe.
At least they didn't use their excess cash to aquire more and more businesses and become truly bloated. (AOL/Time/Warner?)
I hear the Canopy group is looking at aquiring controlling interest in AOL; Web Browsing licences will only be $699 if you buy them before they file suit.
Our workers could be more effective if employers could afford to hire them full time, and give them benifits; unfortunetly, medical plans are way to expensive due to medical lawsuits; and being in business is VERY expensive to insure.
The US needs liability lawsuit caps; and some sanity rules. A small businessman who works hard needs to be able to think about making a million dollars with hard work; instead of worrying about losing a million in a lawsuit to some lazy jerk who suffered no real loss. (finger foods)
America needs to get back to rewarding Work Ethic; or eventually it will be bred out of our population.
The worst part of Linux, in my view, is that there are so many different formats of configuration files. Just figuring out what the comment delimiters are is crazy! nevermind knowing if the file has.cfg,.conf,.config,.configure, or no special name designation
hosts/xorg.conf/inetd.conf uses # for comments
my fstab currently has no comments; don't know if they are allowed; and appears to be whitespace delimited.
passwd/groups uses ':' as a delimiter
named.conf uses what looks like 'C' sytle comments.. bah, dinner time.
If you are starting a new, state of the art game now: by the time you get it out the door, this level of video card will be standard built into motherboards. Almost Every PC game company in the world will need a few of these for testing, if nothing else.

Google is extending their virtual monopoly into another area once again; first they crushed Altavista, now they are targetting Fandango. They should not be allowed to embrace and extend into yet another market.

I think any finite number of states counts as digital and since any integer can be expressed in binary, which only requires two states, any digital information can be expressed using only 2 states.
Dictionary.com says:
1. Of, relating to, or resembling a digit, especially a finger.
2. Operated or done with the fingers: a digital switch.
3. Having digits.
4. Expressed in numerical form, especially for use by a computer.
5. Computer Science. Of or relating to a device that can read, write, or store information that is represented in numerical form. See Usage Note at virtual.
6. Using or giving a reading in digits: a digital clock.
But, what's the distiction between Broadcast and Cable?
with Broadcast, you have the public airwaves argument, not so with Cable; however, you can't always stick your own antenna on the roof of an apartment building, and I'm sure some homeowners association somewhere forbids them as well... So you might have a situation where your ability to receive public broadcasts is reduced...
but anyway, a 'digital' signal is one that has a fixed number of reproducable states; such that the states can be reconstructed, relayed, and retransmitted with all the intented data intact by a predefined system.
Triped?
If it makes you think, it's art.

ok, "...in part due to fear of medical lawsuits."
actual lawsuits may be small, but everything from overprescribed anti-biotics to sub-optimal laser eye surgery results adds up.

I'm considering it anyway.
