Thats exactly what happened with my roomate.He has a Samsung DVD player\recorder set top. He returned Casino Royale 4 times before listening to my suggestion to see if it played on his pc. It did, I told him that the copy protection was what fubar'd it probably. Needless to say he's not a real happy camper, it's not bright to piss off your customer base. I gave him the number to call, will be interesting to see what hoops he has to jump through to get a movie that will play on a less than 2 year old equptment that has no was to be updated to my knowledge. Poor guy still hasn't seen the damn movie and it been a few weeks.
Question is WHY they need a 5 year warranty on almost all of thier drives.
I have my fingers crossed for my 160gb Barracuda it's never had any problems. Of the 8 people I know with these drives, mine's the only one that hasn't been replaced yet (it's less than a year old, one customer is on his 4th drive). So yeah the long warranty helps when the workstation is down waiting for a replacement drive.
The End for Seagate with these customers.
As a Teamster I see first hand how crippled organised labor has become. A job gurantee it's not. And this is just for plain ol'laborer's, the tech world is totaly different job structer, there would have to be an overhaul of how a union would be organised for anything to be effective,. That's not happeneing any time soon, with the poloticians on the corporations payroll.
I am Learning Linux( i'm a newb), I realy Like Fedora Core a friend got me hooked on it. I don't know about the mainstream on desktop though. My PC is an expensive game system nothing more. And right now i'm pulling my hair out trying to get wine to work (don't feel like shucking out money for an app just to get games to work). The only native Linux games I have are Unreal 2k3 and 2k4. Mainstream to this user and it will be the day I DO get MS off my back is when the entire purpose of my PC(games) is realised until then Linux is nothing more than something new to learn and tinker with.
