    I listen to Real Audio everyday. I listen to
    the French radio from Québec and Louisiana
    and it works. I've never had a problem.

    As for choosing version 5.0 versus G2, this
    is a bit moronic but I guess they must feel that
    it is more stable.

    Either one work if your sound card is setup right.

    You exagerate quite a bit. This to me seems to
    be the most stable version I've seen so far.
    As for the service. I sent a question and got
    an answer about 10 minutes later, lucky I guess
    but it put me in a good mood since the problem
    was fixed.

    The language isn't that bad.

    they are in the bed about to do some interesting
    exercise. He want to complement her but doesn't
    speak a word of english.
    using his little translater he enters :
    "T'as un beau corps"

    The translater says :
    "You have a beautiful corpse"

    How long do you think he will keep his hard on?

    In French corps translate to body and corpse.

    So far I have never seen an automatic translater
    that doesn't screw up. I bet that even this one
    can make ridiculous translations.

    Enter "Washington Post" at
    http://babelfish.altavista.com
    and get it to translate in French.

    The translation is "Le poteau de Washington"
    poteau like in electrical post or fence post.

    Some other translation I've heard before :

    "Eventail de course" for "Racing fans"
    Eventail is a fan allright but ...

    "He's shaking it" ---> "Il se branle"
    A french would hear :"He's masturbating"

    I've used Borland's stuff since the early days
    of Turbo Pascal for CPM/80 and I've always had
    great support from them. Borland C++ 3.1 or 3.0
    are still very valuable tools for embedded
    environment. I used it for the V25 and V35
    and plan on using it for the 80C186 series.
    Coupled with Borland's remote debugger this is
    a fantastic tool. It is not because that you
    were impotent that it should have affected the
    rest of us. I bailed out after Borland abandonned
    OS/2.

    Speak for yourself. There are many of us who
    refuse to port software to Linux because it
    is too much work. Our bread and butter is
    on winblows whether or not we like it.

    The tools on Linux for the most part require
    that we release the source code which is
    completely out of the questions.


    As for Xemac :

    I installed this and shit ....
    It has been removed not very long after
    the large vocabulary of swears that had to
    used. What a bloated piece of shit! I can say
    the X version is better than the console
    version but that's about it.

    I prefer a good IDE like Borland's idea.
    Actually I would love an IDE absolutely
    identical to that of Borland C++ 3.1 for DOS.

    I'd live with the one like on winblows as a
    second choice.

    Rhide is too unstable folks, not a valid
    choice, it won't even compile under SuSE 6.1
    anyhow. It kept crashing when I used in
    with Slackware, Redhat 4.2, 5.1 and 5.2

    I have Borland C++ for OS/2.

    Borland dropped support for OS/2 for
    political reasons.
    Borland's bread and butter lies with winblows
    and pissing off Microsoft by releasing an
    OS/2 version didn't help them getting support.

    Now is a different world with the government's
    lawsuit.

    If I buy a commercial compiler it is because I
    want to be free to sell my code without having
    to reveal my source code to the world.

    Borland is well aware of our needs as software
    developpers and would not tie us to libraries
    that we can't use without either giving all the
    source away or paying huge prices for a license.

    As for using QT if you wish I fail to see why
    you couldn't do it. With Borland C++ I've always
    bought the source code of the libraries. Just
    rewrite the libraries to suit your needs.

    Not everyone is well versed in the English
    language so I wouldn't see that as an indication
    to anything.
    As for the insults, it was provoked and you
    should see it as just another flame war.
    To say that only Linux users will respond this
    way is knowing little of human nature.
    When obvious lies are brought up some people
    will respond and some won't. These people
    said things that many of us felt like saying
    but chose not to.

    Typical flash which I use at work is about
    10k write. This is probably a moronic idea
    from some graduate from a Dogbert management
    school.
    They'd have to put the message on the hard disk
    but it'd be interesting to see how they'd write
    on an hopfs or ext2 partition since those morons
    probably think that winblows is the only thing
    that exists.

    I don't know if it was a crash attack but over
    the memorial day weekend I was doing some work
    on NT and listening to my favorite Cajun radio
    shows and two times during the day I lost the
    connection, the modem never went off and I could
    no longer use the modem until I rebooted. The
    winsock was completely crashed, killing the
    programs didn't do anything. A complete reboot
    was the only solution. At this point I have
    no idea how to solve this problem.
    Under Linux, as I can see a bug is found out
    quickly and I just have to recompile and voilà.

    Long live Linux ...

    Judging from Mandrake 5.3 I would see it as
    RedHat with some updates. There was a problem
    with Mandrake 5.3 in regards to Doom, the
    weapons were invisible and it would crash
    regularly. Something was messed up bad in
    the video on the console. On the other hand
    the support of KDE wasn't too bad. Since I
    now have a stable gnome I would see little
    use for that one.

    If the bug about doom and perhaps other console
    applications isn't brought back with Mandrake
    6.0 I would say it would be better than
    RedHat 6.0, being a cheap upgrade from RedHat.

    Cheapbytes should have it shortly.

    There was another bug which would force the num
    lock on. Fortunately that bug can be fixed by
    removing some offending lines in
    /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit. There're easy to spot,
    something to do with led. I'm sure this bug
    will be there again in the new release.

    Real Player always has had in the past both
    a tar.gz version and a .rpm version.

    The rpm Version 5 version would core dump
    on me while the tar.gz file would not.

    With the G2 version I didn't have to hunt
    for a tar.gz version (libc5 instead of glibc2)
    because the rpm version work perfectly except
    that I can save a setting as I can do on
    winblows.

    I use 4-Front sound software though. Perhaps
    the new screwed up sound support in the
    new kernel has more to do than anything else
    about the core dumps, not to say that the
    combination with glibc2-1 doesn't contribute
    to it.

    As for your comment about dope, I'm sure you
    know what to do with it or should I be
    more specific?

    I always found gnome unstable, until RedHat 6.0

    Now it is quite stable and I have flushed KDE
    for good with no regret.

    As for looking like winblows, it is not quite as
    bad as KDE in that regard.

    Can you keep it from installing this crap and
    install Gnome instead?

    I left slackware a while ago because of glibc2
    but with them starting to support it I may
    have to go back again. On the other hand this
    forcing of KDE would be to hard to swallow.

    The RPM Real Player would core dump on
    me but not the tar.gz version. Perhaps
    the problem is similar, try the tar.gz version
    to see.

    I use 4-Front sound driver.
    I haven't tried G4 yet, just got it downloaded.

    Newbies have many more imaginative ways to
    destroy their PC than you seem to realize.

    The experienced person who hoses his PC with

    shape than the one who doesn't know shit.

    has not always been clean as the brits preceeding
    them. There were the brits who eliminated part
    of the people in Acadie while stealing their
    country. There were the brits followed by the
    Americans who killed thousands of natives.

    I am of Acadian and native descent ...

    I'm sure we can compare Kosovo with what happened
    in this country, on the other hand whatever
    happened here years ago is past and the rules
    of laws are observed in this great country of
    today and despite the past I feel home here
    just like any other American.

    So to the morons who try to compare today's USA
    with Kosovo : Get a life!

    A lot of people are not buying either Nitendo
    or playstation for games and their game market
    is slowing being taken over by PCs. Check the
    sales of computer games and you will be very
    surprised. Because of the growing interest in
    the internet more and more people are having
    computers in the house. Often people choose
    between a computer and a nitendo game machine.
    As the computers get cheaper and cheaper nitendo
    is likely to get in trouble, being superior in
    quality doesn't mean, you have to remember that
    kids don't buy the equipment but the parents
    who often know little except that 2 is more than 1.

    Assume for the sake of arguments that Linux does
    become a strong contender in the computer area,
    the desktops that is. Nitendo would succeed in
    an area that Apple has not with some custom
    hardware. Nitendo could eventually flush apple
    out of the desktop area and give a good challenge
    to Microsoft.

    People would write games for Linux that would
    run much better and faster on Nitendo than any
    other platform. Nitendo could actually make
    profits with the Nitendo PC.
    Nitendo could be used for the internet, word
    processing, etc ...

    You may be right, the term obnoxious might
    have been more appropriate, but then I do
    find fundies obnoxious too.

    I get very annoyed when some morons come and
    tell us that we shouldn't use such and such
    kernel. If we decide to take risks on our system
    this is our own darn business.

    We see that much too often on newsgroups,
    whenever someone asks a question about an odd
    numbered kernel there is someone to tell him that
    he shouldn't be using it, like if it was his
    business!
