Why doesn't Apple just drop the Mac entirely?
    Hear me out...
The TOTL G5s cost about $2500, IIRC. I can get a much better x86-based computer for the same price. The same goes for every other price range of Macintosh computer. This, coupled with the fact that there weren't (until the new unix-like OS) very many programs that run on Mac, lead to it's doom. Mac died a loooong time ago, and the diehards aren't going to save it from being Apple's biggest sinkhole. Apple should focus on doing the things that provide revenue for them, such as iTunes and the iPod. Not making overpriced and overrated PCs that cannot compete with the x86 market.

Thank you for supporting me. This is just a twisted case of anti-establishment rebellion, manifested in an odd way. In the old days people went around touting Linux to be rebels (at least some of them, not those of us who use Linux because it's better.), now that has become the norm (on /. anyway) so the people who think they are 1337 r3b31z!!!!!!!111111!! have to start bashing Linux instead.

Does anyone understand what I'm talking about?

Yes I know the movie! It was my favorite movie before LOTR ROTK came out. Really unrealistic (cops arrest the guy with no evidence except some video someone made) but I liked it all the same.

Back on topic: I realize that exposure is good for FOSS, but I wouldn't call this exposure. Ratings are going to be complete trash. "People who don't know about their other options" usually don't care about their other options. Furthermore, many people I know have a bias against Linux ("You use Linux? Omg..."), so they are unlikely to watch a TV program about it.

Things like this are what make me like Linux so much. In Linux, you don't even have to do anything to get your copy to be legit! It already is.
In Linux, there is no "activating." 2 of the computers in my house (owned by other family members) use Windows, and I have to go through Activation Hell every time I reformat one. Which is rather often, because of the fact that they use Windows.

Most FOSS advocates don't need to watch a TV show promoting FOSS, they already use FOSS as much as they can. People who are not FOSS advocates won't bother to watch. Even if FOSS advocates did want to watch, they would probably rather do something on the computer than watch this TV show.

I don't mean to be offensive, but is there any real point to this? How much accurate does the clock really have to be? What is the point of having a clock that is this accurate? We pour millions of dollars into this type of thing. So what? Even if we did need the accuracy (which we don't) we would never have it because the accuracy bottleneck would always be transporting the signal to wherever it's needed. Can anyone think of one good example where this clock serves any real purpose, and the old cesium one wasn't good enough?
