  1. The Oil Barrens vs. The Prists of Gia. on More Bad News About Global Warming · · Score: 1

Consensus does not make truth. This articled has claims involving numbers that can be checked.
Would a melted Greenland ice sheet raise the sea level by 7 meters?
"Scientists Say" is not good enough here on Slashdot. Save that for the Fox News(TM) channel.
What is the volume of the ice?
How much of the ice is already below sea level?
Water is some what denser than ice. How much would the volume be reduced with a phase change from solid to liquid?
What is the surface area of the Earth's seas?

This is what I see most:
These facts are false because they are stated by an Oil Barron. The Oil Barron says 2+2=4. Logically since we don't like Oil Barron's 2+2=4 is false. Classic Logical Fallacy.

    Rant{
It all reminds me of those Truth(TM) anti-smoking commercials. For those of you that have never seen one. These are commercials on American television, where a bunch of jerks run around screaming rubbish like, Cigarettes contain methane so Cigarettes have shit in them. I don't smoke. It causes cancer with long term exposure. I have seen people I love destroyed by them. But these commercials assume we are too stupid for a rational argument.

Lets find get links to real measured data on these matters and actually put them into perspective.
This is my take on the situation:

The climate will change due to varying degrees of the following theories and hypotheses:
-Change in concentration of CO2 / Greenhouse Gases.
    -Changes in solar output.
    -Macroscopic cycles in Ocean currents.
    -Volcanic Activity.
-Macroscopic Cycles in magma beneath the Earth's Crust.(Perhaps the Earth gets heated as magnetic flux passes through the planet's core during solar flares. Hey, let me know if this is crap.)
    -Other (A wizard did it.)

Find links to supporting measured data and analysis there of. Not Scientists' say.

So it seems aluminum is inappropriate use for power transmission. In low power applications like data-cable etc., there would be little risk of fire. Bad connections yes but not fire.

Does any one have a background in metallurgy that knows if the alloy could be improved or could it be tin or gold plated for better oxide resistance.

I'm sure we can find alternatives there are still plenty of metals left on the periodic table.

  5. We will just use aluminum/aluminium on Earth's Copper Supply Inadequate For Development? · · Score: 1

Aluminum conducts well enough to work in many places. Its price shouldn't jump much since it's the third most abundant element in the earths crust. It's not as good as copper but it could still work.

  6. Tieing up the earths oxigen. on Storing Liquid CO2 in the Oceans? · · Score: 2, Funny

Does any one think that this is a bad idea. Let's trap vast amounts oxigen at the bottom of the ocean as liquid CO2 or as carbonates. This way it can't be matabolized by plants and released into the asmosphear as O2 where it will certianly contribute to the green house effect.

The green house effect has plaged our fragile Earth since before the extinction of the dinosaurs. If we want to survive we must start a zero tolerance campaign against anything that causes the green house effect. Obviously we can start by burning all the green houses. But we must not stop there. We must contunue our efforts by removing all green house chemicals from the environment not just CO2 but N2, O2, O3, CH4, and most importently the dreaded DHMO. To do this we need to remove the gutless politicians from both parties and elect a leader who will impose marsian law. Yes only the iron clad law of the red planet will allow us to take these steps and make this planet a fit place to live.

This works great if you want zombies. Maybe some of you out there have some scientific theories of why this is.
I suspect that even if the characters had perfect photorealism they would still look bad without some human-like intelligence controlling its features. It would seem we actually stylize our selves by displaying appropriate expressions/reactions to our surroundings. Even real people that do this badly look sick and frightening to us.

Dont Worry. Nintendo will not leave us with a zombie Link, fighting zombie monsters, rescuing a zombie Zelda. It will be stylized in some way. I'm sure it will be something new and great!
