I also think that we need our own "Fair Use" document to show Congress. Have everyone sign it and then present it to Congress as what the people actually want. Maybe then we could get it to be law.
Instead of just bitching about the laws being passed, lets actually get something together that can be passed that shows our point of view. Then we can get a lobbyist to present it to Congress. Corporations only get their way because of the lobbyists. Lobbyists are effective as they are all Congress gets to see.
This is the local governments (State and NO) fuck up. They were not ready for this, they could not cope with this, and they did not know what to do. New Orleans always knew this would happen, and they did not spend the money to fix the levees first (The fed were ready to do it, but New Orleans did not do the paperwork).
It has taken the Fed Government to step up and take control of this, which is why you see the Army there now. Bush went down and looked for himself at the mess, and is getting it fixed. If anyone is to blame for this it is the State, County and City governments, not Bush or the feds, and I hope that people are held accountable for it.
If you don't want anyone to find out what you have been doing on your computer, then a hammer is the best choice. Works for NSA, and it'll work for you too!
I think we should stop buying. I don't mean stop buying Microsoft, or Apple, etc... No, I mean we should just stop buying new software or hardware.
We have all the power we need, and all the software we need. MS Office has not improved in years, and neither has any other software. Moore's Law is just an outdated general observation, and the biggest improvement in recent years on any computer is that you don't need a driver for USB storage devices!
Maybe if we just stop then some worthwhile innovation MIGHT just happen for us to start buying again.
Just my 2 cents worth.
My brother was working on this 4 years ago! He was the ONLY engineer at a company (powderject), which developed this technology from research done at Oxford University. The system used compressed gas at twice the speed of sound to inject powder directly into the skin with no feeling and no needles. It should be used in the USA soon to deliver the flu vaccine.
Strangely, the best thing about it was that it only used 10% of the medicine needed for a normal injection, making the cost of a $100 injection to $10, and they still charge $100 for it.

Maybe we could use Google's lobbyist!
I thought it said "Skype"...
I just place a delete key in the middle of my password. No-one expects that and it throws them off when you type passe - word
Let's not forget the greatest standard of them all!
EDI is a standard, but everyone's version is differant, so it costs you more then $4000 to set up one additional customer every stinking time!
Standards are great, but what about a standard for using the standard?

I'm still waiting for the hover-cars we were promised in the 60's, let alone reliable directory services that have just started to be used!
