I am sure the new Linux desktop will make OSX look like Windows. And then the entire creative department will rush out and buy Linux based laptops just to look trendy.
The American economy is far more fragile than one is led to believe. Because the externality cost of emissions is not taken into account by manufacturers, they are underestimating their costs. Hence if the USA did ratify the Kyoto protocol manufacturers would see their costs rise, which would accelerate jobs being exported. After all, why should a company pay for emissions in one country when it would not have to in another.
On the other hand side if the US does not ratify, the whole world will be fucked.
It would be ilogical to impose a blaket emission on all countries as the USA would like. Developed countries have been poluting the world for the last 150 years.
You are taking my comments out of perspective. Still, if you are gonna use M$'s search engine, be my guest. I think you may find it somewhat lacking, but then again it's not really my problem.
I may be wrong, but at some point it stops being about money. If you are a wiz money will not be a problem whereever you are working. At that point great engineers start looking for other things, like a good working environment and culture, where they can make and see their contribution. Something that far more likely to happen at G rather than M$ IMHO.
Google is attracting the talent M$ can only dream of. Somehow I doubt that they will manage to find any hardcore search geeks to develop new search apps for them. As far as search goes M$ are n00bs not the veterans and they won't be catching up. Their so called "new" search produces less relavant results than Yahoo and on top of that they are very vulnerable to manupulation by SEOs.
Warren G. Harding made overwhelmingly positive first impressions throughout his political career, although he is considered by historians to be one of the worst American presidents. Despite his consistently lackluster performance, his attractive bearing and appearance camouflaged his shortcomings.
Remind you of somebody?
I don't think you realise how difficult this is to accomplish. Also, it is unlikely to be worth the cost as there bound to be other more effective ways of getting clients. Like inviting buyers to lovely dinners.
What? It seems you are thinking more of selling weapons to Iraq in the 80's rather than giving 3rd world countries a village computer. Who is the "them" that you are talking about anyway and why will a linux box cause violence?
Very good point, but I think this will provide many students with great access to information. I think there are a fair few Slashdotters out there who have learned a computer language or two purely from on-line resources. The great news is also that the PC are aimed to use Open Source software, which will stop the users getting bound by licensing costs and getting skinned by the likes of M$.
At the end of the day education is a key to prosperity and if used wisely this could be a great step in the right direction. It must be said though I am not entirely sure that even at sub $100 prices this machine will affordable to many developing countries.
It's all nice and well, but i doubt it will convince many PC users to switch. Mainly because, apart from the hardware costs, you have to keep in mind the costs of new software and also the implementation costs of learning to use the new hardware. I am sure its not that difficult if you can get along with Windows, but it still takes time away from revenue generating work. Still it's a step in the right direction for Apple, let's hope they can eat a bit more into the Windows "monopoly".
Osama, who is currently staying in the cave next door was just heard breathing a massive sigh of relief. Now that all the international "intelligence" agencies have decided he was "too much hassle" and instead are now going after "The College Student", he can at last go out for nice walks in the mountains. The event coincides with an update of the Evil Doers database, which following reshuffle has file sharing students in pole position. They are now seen as posing the greatest risk to the American Way Of Life.
Somebody has to make a point of standing up to the phantom menace. Sounds a bit like this.

Seems more like this is less of a "it's for the safety of the kids" and more of a "let's make money by tagging our kids like cattle."
You seem surprised such things happen.

nice try, but no cigar.

Why is Europe and Africa lumped together into one category? Is it the similar demographics?

The only people who stand to benefit from this are government cronies and the black market.
A slight over-exageration I think.

You obviously know nothing about proper music.
I thought, one was not legally responsible for content linked to and provided by others.
Yep. It also looks like textbook antitrust.
Looks like he's holding an invisible joint in the bottom picture ;)
"64k should be enough memory for everyone"
Isn't this whole shebang something Larry Ellisson rants on about everytime someonw bring a mike near his mouth?
I had the same problem in my student days.

Gawd Bless America.
He is a good man
Nope. Try again...
