The best example I can give you is me buying a 500$ magnetic field sensor. I've been looking for it and was stocked in very little places, and was quite expensive there.
I'm really glad I saw that ad.
While I must agree with a lot of what you said, I think most users (myself included) would rather download a 60mb Firefox with a 50mb footprint, rather then a 6mb one with a >>150mb footprint...
Dont you feel it is quite humorous that just about everyone here said 'just before you start bashing, this is so good' and such and no one is even bashing it?
actually, they only have to find the same torrent, regardless of the site... from what ive seen so far, most trackers usually keep most of the torrents out there... what i do and i guess others do as well, is start all of them, see which one is fastest, and keep with it... if all these 8 people would have done it, they would all get that episode...
and by the way, ive found suprnova to be not so usefull, and went to it only if i couldnt find other sites with what i needed... I noticed its shutdown only because after it another site; torrentbits.org, was shut down.
you have a good point...
just an idea - they could set their servers as BT trackers... they would still nedd to pay for bandwidth, etc..., but much less...
to be honest, i find it closer to the burglers leaving a post-it note on the door (easily removable, doesnt harm..)
I might be a little pissed if they spray-painted the door, but if they left a note on a peice of paper, i think i would feel a little weird but also happy that there are good people out there...
on a side note, i think the traffic-effects could have been minimized if the worm sent itself only to another say 2/3 hosts...
I also saw a post claiming that some security vulnerabilities might have been left unpatched on purpose to avoid instability... the answer to this is, GET THOSE MACHINES OF THE NET!... youre lucky you were hit by a beneficial worm and not by a cracker going after people passwords/credit card numbers!
I think you might be right and that eventualy evolution will select those that can multitask better, but will likely require millions of years...
also note that your examples are not exactly relevant because to understand how to make fire is a learning proccess, yet the multitasking that was discussed is biological...
I would have mailed you or PMed you if you werent anon... can you (or anyone else, such as whoever moded this insightful) elaborate a bit on this? ive read quite a lot about edison and neverhead of anything like that...
thanks!
I havent checked any formal sources on this, but to the extend of my knowledge, each pentium to to IV was its own generation (and codename) except for the pentium IV which has 2 generation, one using 90nm technology, and another 120(?)nm technology... I dont know much about the various pentium Ms, but to the extent of my knowledge the 'centerino' has also 2 distinct versions. feel free to correct me on mistakes or extent any info...
you obviously havent read the article... this isnt meant to compete against the vanilla google, but rather against google desktop search and its competitors....
I.B.M. says that its tools will make possible a further search approach, that of "discovery systems" that will extract the underlying meaning from stored material no matter how it is structured (databases, e-mail files, audio recordings, pictures or video files) or even what language it is in.

Youre kidding yourself if you think this would be much more accurate or less casualty prone.
Well, they *are* implementing windows...
Since when do you talk to customer representatives about tv shows, movies and/or music ?!

I believe your parent wrote a so called joke. you should read about it :)
- price reflecting the functionality and manufacture cost, not the desirability of the device
Yeah, right,keep dreaming!
I think what he means is implement it so that its transparent to the user.
20,000 tickets at $100 each, totalling $1,000,000 ?
who gets the rest of the 2,000,000$?
ones to conquer mankind, ones to enslave mankind, ones to destroy manking when it is no longer usefull... :P
I, for one, welcome our nanoprobe overlords!

Let the cloning begin! :)
