read the parent - he's waiting for the automatic update (the little green up arrow in the upper right of the browser). He could have gone out and found the 1.0.1 update instead of waiting, but that would have required that he knew about the update in the first place. The whole point of the Firefox auto udpate is so casual users don't have to check for updates all of the time.
So, I emailed the address presented on the 500 error page, and actually received a quick reply from the site manager.

C'mon guys - you're supposed to be the best hw/sw in the world... why
the 500 error? Can't handle a simple slashdot effect?
For years I've recommended Sun/Solaris to support high volume sites.
This is shaking my confidence.
At least it's good to see such a quick response!
I'm in GMT -0700.
Maybe the best bet for Tivo's survival is to get acquired by DirecTV. The Tivo/DirecTV (or "DirecTivo") integration is excellent. I can't even remember how I watched tv at all before I had my DirecTivo box.
Anyone who has tried Comcast's alternative to Tivo knows that the interface is completely horrible. It actually makes me angry just to think about it.
When I move this summer, I'm planning on continuing with DirecTV service rather than switching to cable strictly because of the tight integration with Tivo. The Tivo partnership is already a huge asset to DirecTV, they might as well add Tivo to their balance sheet and make it official.
Tivo is my favorite robot friend (next is Roomba). Tivo has made TV fun and interesting again. I discovered Battlestar Galactica thanks to Tivo. I think I'd cry if Tivo died... seriously.
A long list of passwords is included with the bot, and the bot will brute force the password.
Does anyone know of a site that has posted this list? I believe my password is sufficiently secure, but it would be nice to have some idea of the scope of the character combinations that this bot tries.
Those rocks in the pic you posted look pretty rectangular to an untrained eye. Almost as if they were stacked there to create a structure. Is there a geoligical explanation, or did little green men put them there?
Which school you attended can be very important for getting your foot in the door initially. The company I work for only recruits at a handful of top-tier schools (MIT, Duke, UVA, Penn, Harvard, etc.). If you didn't come from one of these, getting an entry-level position is difficult (not impossible, but it is usually based on personal referrals). If you are not planning on transferring to a top shelf school, it's probably not worth the hassle. A lot of companies allow college to be a 'pre-screening' mechanism: if you can't get into a good school, you're probably not worth considering for their positions.
I would suggest looking at companies you might be interested it working for, and checking out where they recruit. It's not too early - get a jump on your peers.

correction, I'm in GMT -0600. The point is that they replied in 5 minutes. Now, if they had only sent the iso as an attachment....

seriously, the editing has been pretty bad lately... I wish I could stop reading it, but I can't stop hitting refresh... refresh... refresh...
damnit!
I call FUD. Tivo has an HD recorder, and best of all, it's integrated with DirecTV.
It's a recent addition to their line, so you might have a point with the "too late" bit, but it's definitely not "too little."

The article on the SANS site states:
A long list of passwords is included with the bot, and the bot will brute force the password.

I'm pretty sure it's too cold there for any known Earth bacteria to have even a snowball's chance in... well... hell.

The T-shirt reads: "I worked 90 hours a week for EA, and all I didn't even get this lousy T-shirt."
Is that grammatically correct? The wording doesn't even make sense...
It should read: "... and all I didn't even get is this lousy T-shirt."
or
"... and I didn't get even get this lousy T-shirt."
I can't believe anyone would actually wear the shirt as it is currently worded.
I'm currently running Bugzilla on Windows using Cygwin to support my project. It works just fine - this is a valid solution.
