    Thats interesting, I had the exact opposite experiance, running OS X 10.4 and KDE 3 (kubuntu) on a g3 ibook with 128 megs of ram, then later 256, and OS X 10.4 was much faster. Not to mention, it ran propraitary software, which is alomst impossible on ppc linux.

    They do seem to have contributed more code than any other single contributor, what with opensolaris, java, some random compilers, openfirmware, and a bunch of stuff im sure im missing.

    I find it odd that this comment is exactly the same as about 12 other posts. In a disscution about say, apple switching to amd processors, it would have been modded down for being a dupe, or at least not modded up to +5 insightfull. Interesting how you can't agree too much with what you believe.

    AFAIK it was never believed to be in the vapor stage, but in the polar ice caps, or as ice in low altitude orbit.

    Ha, I live in guatemala, sometimes the POLICE can't read the signs, and they are in spanish.

    Here in Guatemala, we just have a spiral shaped wall, with a urinal in the centre. Way cheaper, and you can use it in the day.

    As a white guy living in a predomanantly non-white country, I can say this is definantly true. I'm constantly charged more for stuff because I look like a tourist, and either made fun of or complimented on my accent.

    48 volts dc is 48 volts dc. There is always a 48 volt potential difference, whether you call it 48 volts, or -48 volts. The only reason they call it -48 on telco equiptment is that they have a positive ground.

    Allthough it seems to not happen as frequently as much anymore, I would get IP banned from slashdot and wikipedia about twice a week because my isp uses dynamic ip addresses.

    Linguists are fond of asking if the form of Spanish spoken in Mexico shouldn't be considered "standard Spanish" since it is spoken by more people than there are in Spain.

    So, is british english or american english standard english?
