I just finished Air Force computer training, and you would be surprised at what is still included. We were taught extensive knowledge of ISA and VLB architecture, with exactly zero mention of usb 2.0 or firewire. And this was from a class that was last updated in Jan 2005
That's what music CDs are for today. If I want an MP3, I make an MP3. If I want OGG or WMA or anything else, that's what I make.
When DVD-Audio discs become mainstream then nothing will change, just more options for how I want to listen to my music. What's the point of going to some mysterious intermeditary "data file" instead of just ripping it how you want it?
Wonderful, maybe someday they'll invent a digital clock that somehow fits around your wrist
Take that, Darwin

Curing pandemic diseases like HIV is not only a slap in the face of Darwin, but it can only cause more problems with overpopulation down the road. If no one died from anything except old age, would that be a perfect society or a hectic, crowded, unstable society?
But yeah, on a much smaller scale this is awesome, I don't think there is a person here who isn't connected to someone with HIV.
If processor speed increases mirrored hard drive capactiy trends, we would all be on clusters of Pentium III's. If you want more speed, just add more to your cluster.
Wake me up when I can get 1.6TB in a single 3.5" drive.
My RepubliColleagues are all in favor of this. Their rationale includes such favorites as 'We need to know who the arabs are that we are teaching' and 'If they don't have anything to hide then they won't object to it.'
Anytime I hear a comment start with 'We're at war, it's ok to...' it's usually not ok.
When I was working for a large university, I could do a fresh install of XP SP1 and it would get infected before I even got a login prompt, about 10 seconds. I then learned the value of unplugging the network cable
Wil Wheaton's blog no longer counts until he finishes his Ask Slashdot interview.
Then he can be Slashdot's poster child again.

I, too, am crazy wild to read everything about this case.
