Hey, who knows what games are going to run on the DS? I dunno, maybe i'd buy one of these portable console, but i know nothing of the games that run on them. Plus, i got ripped getting a gamecube, wich sucked because it runs about only 2-3 good games. SO? WHO'S GOING TO FLAME ME AND HELP OUT?
Hey, again speculations...
'It seems to me that if we want true noninvasive thought reading, we're going to need to use some kind of stimulated emission scanning method to determine firing states of individual neurons. Of course, that's easier said than done.'
Nub talking, any idea of how much neurons are up there? lol!
So, quite obviously, what is interresting here is 'how in hell' are they succesfully associating 'brain waves' patterns with specific concepts like 'move that cursor there'. I mean, this is pretty neat, sure, but HOW?
Empiric measurements, obviously, like having someone move the cursor and measure brain waves. Hum, am i right?
Wich leads me to ask : how are brain waves caracterized? Orientation? Intensity/flux density? Dominant source origin? Surely there must be more factors here...
Oh, then again, i'm still wondering about average brain emissions intensity here.
Anybody has a few technical urls about this? I mean research groups are such * when it comes to sharing their results freely these times.
Well, it's a shame (that 'we wont get to see much in the way of the exact how's and why's of the way that these things work')!
Moreover, even if i tend to agreed with you on the sensitivity of intellectual property issues here, i still think there's a part of the 'technical blight' that comes from the non-willingness of some people to discuss the 'how's and why's'.
Much has been published already, it's just hard to fumble through all the speculation. I'm sure http://www.digitaldissertations.com/ or maybe http://www.ieeexplore.com/ carry something interresting about this (sorry, i guess most 'scientific' papers database require membership).
About time for some substance, you marketeers!

This kind of subject has been talked about very much lately. I appreciate that, but i'm kind of disappointed at the way the subject is handled in general.
Why not discuss technical issues? How are brain patterns read? EM signals surely, so how about talking about the probes that are used? And about the signals, surely there must be some interresting stuff to discuss about fuzzy recognition here... Guys, what can i say, we're supposed to be talking about our brains and the way they work, and all i find is some kids discussing 'applications' for something they're not really willing to understand. This is NOT the marketing dept!!! Where are old time nerds?
Worse, i find some 'ethical' rethorist wrecking the fun... This is not litterature, this is science, may the heretics burn!
Oh, before i go, i would like to insult people who think brain control applications are two-way systems. Terrorized geeks are worth nothing, the price for greater science is never too great!
(please, repliers, dont discuss my mail, discuss the hardware)

Hey, they Nasa is such a wonderful organisation. They did : a poem (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/artgallery/soto_po em.html/), some photo shoots with aerosmith (http://http//www.nasa.gov/multimedia/videogallery /index.html) and so much more.
What can you say, i guess now is the time for serious issues, like food on space stations, lol.
Those who wonder at those who do wonder, while those who do, well, do. Unless, i do wonder?
