Nope, this is generally done with head-hunters and other suitable recruiters.

The problem with that is that, if you employ people who is good on whatever non-political issue, but is by itself non political, your government adversaries will screw him because the poor guy won't know how to "defend".

This is in part what happened to the people Vicente Fox put as secretaries when he entered (I know first hand account of the tourism and environment delegates cases).

I just re-started developing web pages (last time I did it is when .NET and (win/web)forms was just getting out), and my personal experience so far has been that IE7 plain sucks.

After developing 3 full blown websites (MVC from DB to CSS, 2 of them using CodeIgniter) I have come to understand all those rants (from web designers) I read in these 5 or 6 years I stopped "web-developing".

Every darn IE version is broken, and the worst thing is that the developers even know it and they "enable" patches (conditional comments).

Making a web design compatible with IE (even IE7) is a pain in the ass. Even when your page is 100% XHTML validated.

Sorry for this rant. I just had to spit it out somewhere and this story and place is the most appropiate (given the level of anti-Microsoft sentiment in slashdot :)

Just read this post from someone which seems to be a Konfabulator developer.

    I liked these tidbits:

Part of the issue with linux is all the different desktop environments. If we do this, weâ(TM)ll pick exactly one and focus on that. We wonâ(TM)t dilute our effort. and

the real fun part wonâ(TM)t necessarily be bringing the engine over and the windowing,itâ(TM)ll likely be the more esoteric things like measuring battery life/wireless in a standard way. But linux and the word standard donâ(TM)t generally seem to go together. Of course, I would say the desktop envieronment of choice would be KDE... since Konfabultaor Konforms Kuite Korrectly to the naming Konventions.

They take technology that exists in lots of other places, and put it in a prettier package. OSX is nice, but it's BSD with pretty graphics.

I do not have *any* apple product (I am not their market) but I think the multitouch mouse with gestures in personal computers was a first.

Now just give a look at the recent news (at news.google.com) and you will see how Microsoft is all multitouch and stuff. Of course all they are doing is promising vapourware for the upcoming Windows 7 which as with Longhorn, we know it won't have all the technology they are currently hyping (I'm looking at you "three pillars")

So, just because the author views disagree with your's you claim that the raised points are FUD? You should take a bit of a look at the writer's background. I think he is the kind of person who *might* just know about what he is talking about...

Ed's academic credentials include experience as both an Adjunct Professor and Lecturer in electrical engineering at Boston University, where he taught classes in circuit theory and dynamic systems theory. He was a Fellow of the National Science Foundation and has also been a faculty member for both the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education IP Program and Suffolk University Law Schoolâ(TM)s Advanced Legal Studies Program. Ed has taught a Suffolk Advanced Legal Studies course entitled Maximizing Business Value From IP. However, feel free to point me to a place where shows that "Stanistani" has some kind of law degree and experience in IP law (no, trolling in slashdot stories does not count).

Reading the rest of the article, the author does not seem to understand the basis of the GPL, and he engages in needless scaremongering.

Typical GPL zealot reaction "Oh noes! you don't understand GPL! you are teh suckzorz!!!"

The fact is that the GPL v3 does have its implications and that such implications become treats to any company willing to use software under such license.

The solution to that is just to stop using such programs, or LEARN about the risks that using them exposes. And that is what the paper is about.

Of course, I did not expect such objective reactions from slashdot...
