What so with the other story about IIS creeping in on Apache's market share, and this story with Lenova taking Linux on the Desktop... does this mean Windows is taking over the server and Linux taking over the desktop (flamebait) I guess it was a matter of time... Windows always wanted to be more like Linux on the server and Linux wanted to be more like Windows on the desktop.
We all suffer from this affliction one time or another. I don't have a problem with it frankly, because it adds more clarity. Like the article says referring to AC current, to not have it confused with Air Conditioning is much easier to make your point clear.
Didn't Apple give him a lot of money for his iPod endorsement. And where would an iPod be without the internet tubes to support it. Artists get hypocrytical in their old age. Good innovative music for his time, but John you're losing touch sorry.
For personal use I can't remember the last time I used a email client for personal use. Probably Freshman year in college. Once my school came up with a Web client I used it less and less frequently.
My old job was a small company so we did use POP3 internally, but even they were migrating to others.
My current job uses Outlook, and for personal email I use Yahoo and Gmail.
I know Thunderbird has other things like RSS feeds etc, but again I set up Gmail for that too.
I'm going to take a rather pedestrian assumption here (cuz I hate economics). But isn't inflation good because as the population grows it keeps the rich from getting AS richer? More actual dollars to go around to more people. Is inflation inline with population growth? So wouldn't it go up exponentially as population does? I do feel like I'm seeing the price of things rise faster than I remember. I don't know I just write software.
Good point. Java led the way in "virtualization", but one of the main hooks (I feel) that makes VMWare so desirable is the ability to take ONE image file and move it to another server without any hassle. Is there anything in Java that simple?
Democracy Player makes me think of PBS. Where sometimes you'll find quality programming, but then you have to put up with all that other stuff the rest of the public SHOULD enjoy. The only time I ever catch myself watching PBS is when NOVA, or some weird British Sit-Com is on.
I don't have cable so I may consider putting together a set top computer just for this purpose.
I would hope this could be used for temporary therapy. Once you can face your fear with the aid of the drug... The memory that you're no longer afraid anymore becomes stronger than your fearful one. You can then be weaned off the drug. This will allow you to be afraid of things you should be afraid of again.
self optimizing behavior. Yes ever have Paint Parties?
I've painted a few rooms by myself, but I've found with other people around I get a great deal more done individually. Less breaks, work harder, work longer.
Even if you take out the advantage you get from specialization of jobs (i.e. someone paints the trim while someone else has the roller) The benefit of working with people (even if they're slow themselves) is very apparent.
I agree it's FUNNER being stupid.
And do not correct my grammar.
That's why I hang out with my college drop out friends more often than my extremely successful over achieving ones.
I have found in Pennsylvania Google maps leaves out the route numbers for roads, and favors the route names. There is a number of routes in PA that change names a couple of times while maintaining the same route number. This is quite annoying as the route numbers are usually more clearly marked than the names. This is why I've gone back to Mapquest.
They would never want to lose out on the money he would continue to generate with his old albums. Sounds like they want to make an example of Prince to prevent other artists from doing the same. Large revenue loss to make it worth it.
Reminds me of one of the Coffee and Cigarettes vignette where Alfred Molina traces his ancestary roots back to Steve Coogan to find out their cousins by a similar Great Great Great Grandfather. Who cares that much really?!
community cable service That's the way things used to be in my area before Comcast bought out the local companies. Isn't that how Comcast started out before it was a Mega Corp itself?

Confidential Yes. Classified No. Halliburton has a lot of work that applies to the military yes but not all of it is classified. As long as it's classified which most of our work here is then we're safe. As far as i know you still have to be a US citizen to get clearance.

In hindsight yes I should have asked.
"Job security is very important these days."
I suppose I'm considering it because my current position is at a small company. Software isn't where I want to be and that is the only course I have at this company. A Siemens or a Comcast I could hopefully get into other fields of interest.
"Don't rely on a company to pay for it"
Now why wouldn't I rely on a company paying for grad school? If they pay for it it's paid.

I'm currently working as a Software Engineer for a defense contractor ( a safe haven for outsourcing ) I've been there for 2 years now and this is my first job out of college.
Last week I've interviewed at 2 companies Siemens and Comcast which are not in defense. When the offers come by I'm wondering if I should take the leap of faith. Reading everyone's comments reminds me to think will I be looking for a new job in 3 even 1 years with these other companies.
These jobs will have a lot more benefits such as higher pay, better cost of living, and close proximity to a location I'd rather live near anyway.
To reenforce my uneasyness as I was interviewing at Siemens I saw articles posted outside people's cubicle entitled: "Why we shouldn't outsource..."
My plan if I got a job at Siemens or Comcast would be to go to grad school for EE part time and have those companies pay for it. Maybe I'd be able to fulfill my original plan of becoming an EE.

5 buttons huh. Where's the strummer and the whammy bar?
Add that and we'll talk.
Password Safe is good for me.
I don't know how easily crackable it is, but at least it's not linked directly to the Internet like a browser.

Why can't spam filters filter out every permutation of v1@gra, or viagra. I'm surprised what still gets through sometimes.
