No WoW for the 360

wow lovers just can't handle the fact that blizzard wont take the time to port the game to xb360 so they're bashing the nearest mmorpg that can find that did take the time, namely ffxi. personally ffxi still beats the crap out of wow's graphics, no matter how dated anyone thinks it is. if anyone wanted to take comparison landscape shots, they'd wholeheartedly agree with me. Even the player models dont look as bad as wow. i bet most of you don't even play ffxi. newer is just better huh? thats as ignorant as you can get.
i wouldnt want any of you kids at end game with me either. would you want a player who took 4 months to reach lvl65 in wow, or 1 year to get to lvl65 in ffxi? instant gratification ffxi is not.
from what most fighting game forums say, speculation or whatnot:
capcom japan has release all the street fighter rights over to capcom usa. Now capcom is actually listening to the feedback of fans so they wont make a disaster of a game like Capcom fighting evolutions.
It's guranteed to be 2D. and it will be on Sega/Sammy Atomiswave hardware.
those pics ARE actually the next xbox, theyre leacked pictures fron press kits from mtv and a munch of other publications they were supposed to keep under wraps... but didnt.
and fyi, the controllers are wireless, and they are UGLY!
My gamestop called me a couple days ago and told me that i couldnt pre-order 2 PSPs, so now i have 1 PSP completely paid off and about $80 worth of store credit. I think its their strategy to ensure more customers will get one. Needless to say i am pretty pissed off.
WEll, with this 1 mil news, i'm wondering about how good or bad the ebay "fervor rush" is going to be, i was originally hoping to sell my 2nd PSP to help cushion the purchase of the first.
Mortal kombat II is not a game that defines the fighting game genre, maybe in 1995, but not nowadays. If you look at any big tournaments i dont see any that have ever used mk in their roster of games. If there is any similarity from mk2 to tekken, is that it allows some pretty ridiculous juggling. If you want to talk about entries into fighting games, there are only two: Street Fighter 2 CE, and Marvel 2. If you want to know about the current popular fighting games, its Marvel 2, and 3rd strike.
Virtua Fighter has improved quite a bit, but the learning curve is so high that its pretty hard for newcomers to play.
So anyway, Itagaki is basically doing the exact same thing he did when Tekken4 came out, and all he's doing is just stirring some riot, and making some name out for DOA. That being said, DOA's fighting system is nothing to write home about either since it's just some fast paced dial-a-combo, luck countering fighting game. Oh yeah, and its eyecandy. Tekken is slightly the same except it allows for a lot of creative comboes to connect, which is (my guess) the biggest appeal. It was a bit shocking when he did it last year, but this year, "Grow up, Itagaki!"
Conclusion, if you are talking about a game that is what would be considered the "Rennissance" of fighting games, i'd put it down on Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike. If you want this years bandwagon game, look no further than Tekken5.
you are right.
the FF concert is by far a "pop" concert and is mostly for fans of the series.
before attending the LA concert last year, in the gift shop of the disney concert hall, you can over heard the clearks talking, "what is todays event?" "Oh i dunno, its somt kind of video game music" it sounded very demeaning. Even the conductor wasn't into it, and the musicians were talking amongst each other between performances.
in a philharmonic, you just dont do that; thats disrespecting on their part.
you can tell that they always will play "one winged angel" because the choir will come back 2 songs before the last. theyre only used for the first song and the last.
as an avid bemani fan i got this when it launched in japan. i was quite disappointed at first.
The sound engine is a straight port from the original GBA project Gameboy Music, so the MIDIs sound quite tinnish, it doesnt show off the DS capabilities at all. Let's say the songs sound like nokia polyphonic ringtones; horrible! -_-;
Im any case, playing the game solo is no fun. The REAL fun is actually hooking up with other DSes and playing at a band. here is where you can look past the sound quality and have some multiplayer fun. With a single cart, 8 players can join in, with multi carts, its an infinate number of players.... Theres even a built in pictochat function to send messages while you play. and no lag.
if i can recommend anyone playing it, increasing the song's speed by 10-20% actually makes the song sound better, especially the F-Zero medley.
it should also be added that since its GBA compatible you wont get any extra DS hardware features such as dual screen support, which is a shame.
It would be nice to have the video play on the top screen with file and media controls on the bottom. so i suppose this is best for GBA, DS people will have to settle for single screen mode and low resolution borders.
with the prices of flash memory falling, maybe a future solution sony could implement is by creating a disk cache on the memory stick?
then again these ARE first generation psp games, and much like first generation ps1 games, the load times will improve with better programming.

Two.
One to screw it in. And the other to unscrew it just to change the GamePak.

Soul Calibur?
You notice how Itagaki never says anything about the actual gameplay? you wonder why DOA is not taken as a serious fighting game in competition.

just use the controller mod and youre all set. besides. the iidx controller is only 5900 yen retail and must cost much less to produce.
