I think you're looking for something like this:

You can go smaller too, but that should carry everything you could possibly want and then some.

    Here's an md5 hash of a string: ab4d9e92ac8645abd68c26970bb3e965

If you can tell me what string created that hash, then I'll believe it's trivial to easily yield the hashed data.

I'm betting that it's not as trivial as you're asserting.

Don't count on it to last. The Liberal government in Ontario is considering taxing lottery winnings. Which is humorous, since they're getting the lionshare of the profit from the lottery already.

There's also the fact that the shell that the worm installs does not have sufficent privledges to do anything extremely destructive. Hell, you can't even use "net stop" to shutdown a server after it scans you. I think Symantec's 'medium' classification is correct, after all this little bug could have been a whole lot worse than it was.

While I'm sure you're all competent, I don't think you'll find many companys will give you much of a high risk job until you have more than proven yourself (read gone to college, and gotten a little more experience than your 18 years has afforded you). You may not be in an extremely challenging environment, but the skill here is to be able to do an exeplary job even when the work is brainless. Trust me, if you can prove you are an excellent worker, and can deliver things on time, then you'll be given more challenging projects to work on.

I completely agree. Not only is this good for the industry, but I think will prove, without a doubt, that it's adults that buy the games not the children. Honestly how many kids 12-14 run around with 60-70 (CDN) dollars to lay down on a computer game? I remember reading something in PC Gamer a while back that said that 60% of all game purchases are made by the target market of 21-28 year olds. Surely this won't affect them.

  7. Drivel... on Shut Down Metallica, Not Napster · · Score: 1

I usually read Jon's arcticles and smile to myself, but these two most recent articles really irk me.

Jon continues to refer to the concept of "free" music. The fact of the matter is that this music is not free. It is in fact the property of a group of individuals. These individuals are asserting their right to not have their property distributed, and they are well within their right to do so.

Furthermore, his version of privacy leaves a lot to be desired. Individuals connected to Napster are no more private than a person standing in a crowd of people watching a live band. Like the band analogy, people may not know each others real name, but they are certainly not in a private place. In my opinion blocking users (as opposed to seeking legal action against them, which would be close to impossible) is a reasonable action, and does not seem to violate anyone's privacy.

I don't know Jon, would you be this critical of a software company going after a service that made pirated copies of their property "free" on the internet? I didn't think so.

  8. Censorship on Voices From The Movie Line · · Score: 1

What does censorship have to do with movie ratings? People under 18 years of age are restricted from watching movies with certain ratings. Boo hoo! Will the movies be available from your viewing pleasure when you are are deemed chronologically old enough? Sure they will. Should you able to watch these movies now? No! Why? Because that's the current rule. Our society is bound by all sorts of these funky rules. We may not agree with all of them but you have to agree that they've served us pretty well so far. I do agree that some of them are dated and could be revised, however, until they're changed we're obligated to follow them.

So buckle up little camper, and obey the rules...
