Having upgraded about three quarters of our office to Windows 10, I've found Edge to be a very flaky browser. I'm getting a good many remote procedure failed errors, with baffles me greatly. Thus far, I'm not terribly impressed with the browser's stability, and many users have just switched over to Chrome or Firefox, or keep using IE.
It's not a matter of cheap, it's a matter that I can build a machine for a lot less than Apple would charge me, and run Linux or Windows on it, and run all the development tools I need. So even if my wallet was bursting, why would I buy a Mac?
Why would anybody pay the Apple tax for their overpriced hardware to use as a coding platform? It's not like the OS-X tools are oh so much better than anyone else's.
I have a feeling a good many posters here largely feel this way. Every time some story about sexual escapades comes up, you get the Neanderthals declaring it's their God given right to slap peoples' faces with their dicks, and insisting that if anyone tells them to stop that, they've somehow been harmed because dick-slapping is totally natural and those evil SJW types want to stop them from their rightful dick slapping activities.
Considering liability concerns, I can't imagine any company paying for booze. I went to a risk assessment seminar a few years ago, and the speaker made it clear that, more than anything else, the best way to reduce risk and liability costs (in other words, not get hauled into court and lose boatloads of money, and have your insurers say "fuck you", is to not pay for alcohol. Never have it on your premises, never shell out for it, and if alcohol is served, attendees can pay for it themselves, so that when one of them tries to molest someone else at the party, or gets behind the wheel of a car and mops out a family, you're not held responsible.
So any gay men in the room, or any heterosexual women, or hell any fucking married men or religious men can just go get fucked, is that about the size of it?
Nothing confirms that adolescent mindset more at/. than people like you.
If an organization or individual wishes to license their code under an open source license, then that's great. But when someone is forced to hand over proprietary code to the government via secret tribunals, that's very very fucking bad.
Ah yes, the argument to support sociopathic behavior. "It's, like, totally legal, so companies should just go out and do it."
The fact that very large companies use their financial clout to get legislators to perpetuate and even enlarge the influence of IP doesn't factor into this at all?
Out my way (Vancouver Island), but I regularly see deer (oh man, so many f---ing deer), bears, a couple of cougars (damned scary animal), ferrets (smelly and ferocious), raccoons (got to be as many of them as deer), heard some wolves (never seen them, they're very shy creatures), not to mention a huge number of bird species (my personal favorites ravens and crows, but there's nothing quite like the sight of a hawk hunting), plus all the little critters; voles, mice, the odd rat (not a fan mind you, but an amazing creature when you read about them), plus plenty of fish species (there are coho salmon and spring salmon runs in the creek not one hundred feet from my property). I remember going into the interior of BC on a trip when I was a kid and seeing mountain goats in the Rockies, now THAT was something to behold.
My kids saw a lot of wildlife, plus plenty of farm animals (cows, horses, sheep, chickens, goats and pigs), and one of my kids has raised and even slaughtered turkeys and pigs (we're damned proud of her!)
There are lots of ways to see wildlife, in many cases actually in the wild, that don't require a zoo or a safari. Yes, you may not see the exotic animals; whales, tigers, lions and monkeys, but I think one can educate children on animals and give them a sense of nature without having to keep a lot of animals in cages or tiny swimming pools to do it.
The only proviso is where matters of conservation are concerned. When you have endangered animals, I think a strong argument can be made for captive breeding programs. But that is more about preserving species and maintaining biodiversity, and less about entertainment.
That may be true. But it is very hard to see how an animal of fairly sophisticated intelligence (if not some degree of outright sentience) whose ancestors going back millions of years have lived in the open sea, constrained only by the necessities of eating and breeding, can reasonably be put into what amounts to an oversized pool and somehow lead an existent that could in any way considered to be humane.
Honestly, I have a real problem even with elephant confinement, for much the same reason. These aren't macaws or some breed of Amazonian fish. These are very large brained animals that show at least some ability at advanced cognition, memory and emotional capability. Yes, they're not humans, and they do not likely possess anywhere near the mental capabilities of humans, but there are some types of animals who demonstrate their own cognitive abilities beyond that of much of the animal kingdom, and I think keeping them in captivity, at least in the sense of the rather small space that most of them have to exist in, is just plain wrong.
Exactly. The last point is important. The FBI and local law enforcement fucked up the evidence. This is the equivalent of not properly locking down a crime scene and all the fingerprints being smudged out, and then blaming the owner of the building where the crime scene was located.
I can do the same thing at home. I grab an OEM install ISO, gather all the drivers, and reinstall. It's a bit more of a pain, but operating systems are getting better suites of built in drivers all the time.
There is a war on encryption right now, and frankly I don't think most politicians, and probably most of the senior folk at the FBI, even really know what it is. I'm sure in their view it's just some evil blackbox designed to keep them out, and all they need to do is bludgeon anyone implementing encryption systems with laws, the courts and a lot of bluster about how people like Apple are helping pedophiles, terrorists and organized crime.
Somewhere in the bowels of the various intelligence and security services there are people who are perfectly well aware that encryption is simply a mathematical discipline, that trying to outlaw types of encryption is the equivalent of trying to outlaw nuclear fusion or prime numbers, but what they're hoping is that a "compromise" will be made giving them back doors.
What worries me in the long run isn't the growing war between the technology giants and governments, but when they turn their attention to other projects like OpenSSL, OpenSSH, OpenVPN and other open source and freely available encryption systems. If the bad guys are as smart as they seem to assert (and there's no reason to think that at least some are), then they're just going to switch to roll your own solutions, use burner phones for any instant communication. Then are we going to see the project leads for these software packages being summoned to Congress or to Parliament, and basically accused of protecting bad people? Or will agencies like the FBI finally blink?
Nowadays we just reimage new equipment. We don't even bother removing it. We have vanilla Windows images with the software needed and that's what goes on. The idea of spending any time removing the shit that Toshiba, Lenovo and the rest of them throw on the computers is a useful activity is long gone now.
God will be very mad. Everyone knows that God wants us to burn lots and lots of oil, and in fact God intends to condemn all users and advocates of alternative energies to Hell, on the advice of his good friends and angelic servants, the Koch Brothers. We should actually go further, and begin the immediate execution of all climatologists, anyone who develops alternative energy technology, or anyone who even thinks that we should move away from God's Only Approved Energy Source, oil.
US Government: "We will fine you until you comply with the order giving us access to the servers." Microsoft:"Those aren't our servers. We don't have access." US Government: "Fine have it your way."
three weeks later
German Government: "We will fine you until you comply with the order giving us access to the servers." Deutsche Telekom: "Fuck you, Microsoft, take your servers back."
Until Germany does the same thing the US is doing.
This may seem like a distinctly American problem, but it is global. Every government; from the direst dictatorships to the most liberal democracies, wants their own version of the "Snooper's Charter", and wants to crush anyone who dares question their unlimited right to spy on their own citizens 24/7. This is a theory of government that is unconstrained by any notion of civil liberty, responsible or constrained government power.
The world is run by sociopathic monsters with a pack of braindead retarded legislators who gave up actually governing years ago.
Welcome to Dystopia, and now there's an app for that!

Ah, I see the problem. You think photo software is software development.

So your solution is to basically have an orgy on stage to loosen people up.
So any gay men in the room, or any heterosexual women, or hell any fucking married men or religious men can just go get fucked, is that about the size of it?

So you wouldn't have a problem with scantily clad men dancing around. After all, it's only sexuality, and the dancers get paid.

Then why is it exactly that Microsoft needs to rent seek on Android?

There have been reports that all eight owners of older Windows phones have mixed feelings about this upgrade.

Obviously John has never used Norton's fine products.
I'm not clear. When is it exactly that there weren't being actively harmful?
I hope you die horribly.
