Same here only the 1035T and with the 3.2GHz Turbocore this baby has NO problem playing the latest games and on medium settings Handbrake hits over 160fps.
The moral of the story? Don't use the built in apps like OneDrive. And I'm not sure which "color" are you talking about, the backgrounds, taskbar, and windows are all able to be changed under appearance, are you talking about changing the colors of the actual icons themselves? That is not what the Insiders Blog has been saying, they were saying the subscription setting will be called something like "Enterprise" and will only roll out updates on a schedule or when the WSUS rolls them out, that the "Fast/Slow" will still be in WU, it'll just be under "Advanced" with the default on OEM PCs being fast but those that DIY and install or upgrade their own OS will be able to choose at install.
From the talk on the forums the current build IS in fact the RTM, they are now in the "bug fix and program polish" phase and the update speed is as they said currently under advanced, along with which server you want to use for updates (so you can use GPOs to add a domain server) and that works fine for me, IMHO users that aren't willing to even click on the advanced button probably need to be on fast while those that know enough about their OS to use advanced settings can choose what they prefer. Since I have network backups I've been using fast and I have to say I only ran into 1 bug (couldn't launch programs from start menu on one build) and they had the fix rolled out in less than 48 hours so I really don't see it mattering much to power users.
Since GOG is the ones selling the games it would be great if they chose a set of ports (like Steam) and just set the games to use that BEFORE they sold 'em. I have been using Galaxy since the AvP Alpha invitation only release and that is a big sticking point over Steam, with Steam it usually works OOTB without requiring the user to futz with ports and firewalls, Galaxy needs to do this as well.
But I have to give the GOG guys credit as other than that sticking point? Finding matches and jumping into game is surprisingly fast, especially when we are talking about a 15 year old game. If they can pull this off with the rest of their library? I think we may have a winner folks.

For those that haven't kept up with the Win 10 Insiders Blog with Windows 10 you have basically two roads...on one road you have "fast" which to make a comparison the/. crowd would be able to relate to? Think of it as the "bleeding edge" branch. That branch will not only get security updates but it will get the "latest and greatest" new features but in return they will have to deal with being on the cutting edge. Then you have the "slow" road, which would be your "stable" branch, those guys will only get the critical to important security patches, no optional or extra stuff, and from what the blog has been saying you'll be able to choose whether to get them when they are released or you can choose which day of the month you want 'em with a few clicks of the GUI.
So I don't see why anybody would bitch when this is EXACTLY what many here have asked for, those that WANT the bling and bells and whistles can choose that branch, and those of us that just want a Windows workstation without the extra crap? Its one simple drop down box away....sounds like Nadella has again actually listened to those that use his product and given them what they want, and you'd think after getting this response from the Linux devs when being told nobody wanted systemd? You'd think an OS listening to its users would be a breath of fresh air!
IBM was a perfect example of how MSFT's many early successes were based on the having the preceding phrase "And then the other guy did something REALLY fucking stupid" having been uttered.
Case in point IBM....OS/2 was a damned fine OS, ran rings around the DOS based versions of Windows, and could multitask like a champ even on a weak sauce 286....so what happened? IBM did not one but several REALLY fucking stupid things, 1.- When Intel refused to license the 386 for second sourcing IBM refused to buy it, instead sticking with the 286 (which they made) damned near until the Pentium was released. This meant the cloners were not only cheaper they were MUCH faster at a time where every MHZ counted, 2.- Those same cloners, which IBM absolutely had to have if they were gonna launch a mainstream OS? Well they tried to kill them by fucking them on the MCA bus (which caused the cloners to adopt the E-ISA bus which was literally an MCA slot turned backwards) and then if that wasn't enough? By the time of OS/2 V2, a time when the average cloner was paying less than $10 a copy for Windows in bulk? They demanded $200 a copy for OS/2! Needless to say it was treated as plague blankets by the OEMs so even when IBM offered it at steep discounts the OEMs didn't want it.
As for TFA? Its a small PC shop that has a repair guy that is either incompetent, getting a shitload of laptops without the restore discs (as some of the builders...cough Lenovo cough...rig theirs in such a way they won't even restore from the partition without a restore disc...that costs $30 to order) and just using some "Razr1911 Corporate Edition Keygen" or they are being forced by the owner. Don't think that is possible? I've actually gone on interviews and had PC shop owners want to know if I'm familiar with Windows Server and WSUS and when I'd state yes they'd tell me flat footed they wanted me to set up a server so every PC they sold would get updates NOT from WU but from them, one even saying "So we can use this disc" and whipping out the infamous Razr1911 XP Pro Corp disc.
So with that many hits? Its a shop, either a DIY refurbing PCs on the cheap or one of the reasons listed above. You'd think with MSFT wanting everybody to upgrade to Win 10 and this place using Win 7 (one of the 3 OSes that get upgraded) they'd STFU and be happy to have so many new installs ready for Win 10, I guess old habits die hard or some of the Ballmernator's buds are still working in that dept.

So nobody had to "force IE" which just FYI IERadicator was free and would remove IE in less than 30 seconds, which was one of the things they busted MSFT for, the "you can't remove IE" bullshit, you took it because your "choices" was a free and not nearly as buggy IE, a buggy as fuck NS4 for $$, or ad ridden Opera, again unless you ponied up $$ but Opera did things in such a bizarre way that many websites (and yes this was before "works best in IE" existed) just came out all wonked, it was not fun at all in those days....so we took IE, not because it was great, but because the alternatives were MUCH worse. Now that there is choice wadda ya know, we actually choose and no browser dominates anymore...yay!

OpenSSL and Bash are the two most widely deployed pieces of code on the planet, bar none. If "many eyes" were true that fact SHOULD have made them the most vetted code on the planet....but they weren't, why? Because "many eyes" is an "is ought" fallacy in that because the source code IS there and it IS in wide use there OUGHT to have been at least one or more people with the years of training in low level code auditing that should have looked at the code and found the bugs and reported them.....this ignores the facts, which are 1.- The guys that can do low level auditing are very few, 2.- They are usually swamped with jobs that pay them, and most importantly 3.- Everyone is gonna ignore the code because they'll believe somebody else did it thanks to the "many eyes" myth.
This is why "many eyes" should be considered a harmful myth to allow to spread, since everybody just assumes somebody else has done the work when in reality? You want to know what is sad? When I'm sitting there bored at the shop I have installed Windows 7 on some pretty ancient pieces of crap I end up with on trade ins and ya know what? As long as its got a GB of RAM it'll run just fine, 10 minutes turning off any services they do not need and it'd run better than XP. I seriously doubt we are talking last PIIIs and first gen P4s in the British government, if my own local government (who had all theirs switched by cutoff, ended up with a mountain I needed to refurb) are any indication what you'd be seeing is a ton of first gen Core 2 Duos, Athlon X2s, maybe if they were really cheap (like our streets dept) some Pentium Ds.....all of which will run Windows 7, hell Windows 10 just fine.
As some here know just to see if Windows 10 was gonna be a Vista piggie or a "7 sweetie" I grabbed the absolute weakest portable I have, a 2011 AMD Bobcat netbook I use for service calls. For those that don't know what an AMD Bobcat is its a chip that was designed to compete with Intel Atom when the netbook hype was in full swing (and ironically ended up being the APU for the XB1 and PS4 with its successor Jaguar) and has performance roughly equal to a last generation Atom+Nvidia ION setup so we are talking a REALLY weak chip. How does the newest Windows 10 builds run on such a weak chip? It runs just fine,takes less time to boot than Win 7 and once I'm on the desktop its all smooth sailing.
So there really is no excuse for paying something like $15 million bucks just to extend Windows XP (which lets be honest folks it was NEVER that great an OS and wasn't even halfway decent until SP2, I would argue both Win2K and XP X64 AKA 2K3 Workstation 64 were better OSes) when I bet a good 90% of the hardware they have running would take both Windows 7 AND Windows 10 without requiring new hardware and with Windows 7 able to be upgraded to Windows 10 while keeping your programs and settings via WU? Its really a no brainer, they could run Win 7 now and once IT has checked all their mission critical stuff runs fine on Windows 10 just push out the upgrade. Hell Win 7 has XP Mode so they can't even use application compatibility as an excuse,so its sad and shameful all their citizens info is gonna be at risk just because they couldn't get off their butts even with nearly a half a decade of warning what was coming!
Actually I've been installing Steam more and more on computers owned by people that you wouldn't think of as "gamers" because they have casual mobile games that they want to play on their laptop or desktop as well as their phone or tablet. If MSFT makes it so Windows 10 can run these natively? I'm sure all those casuals would give the Windows appstore a boost.
You can get a gamestick with controller for $65 or you can buy pretty much any dual core (or better) Android tablet and use a wireless controller, Tigerdirect has so many they were selling a "buy one get one free" dual core tablet deal just the other day.
The problem with this idea is...well most mobile games really aren't designed to be played like a console, they are designed for touch tablets and for very short gameplay. This is pretty much the opposite of what those playing a console expect and so they are disappointed by the short gameplay, most of which is the FTP "pay to win" style which is further disappointing gameplay wise. I've tried a bunch of these mobile games and....yeah I can see why these things haven't taken off, most folks don't like playing games in 2-5 minute "bursts" and being constantly bugged for more money. Even when I've bought some of them through Steam, with all the extras included? The gameplay is still insanely short, with most seeming to follow a 3-5 minute "play on the shitter" model.
So if somebody asked me what kind of cheap console to get? You can get an X360 or PS3 used for less than $100 most places and you'll have better games and more fun than you will with these sticks and mini-consoles.
Then "Linux" is is about to become proprietary as Google is about to pull the last "E" of a EEE play on Android and lock it down behind the Paywall...errr "Playwall". They have dropped support for AOSP, started tying critical parts of the OS into APIs tied to the Playstore, its gonna be about as open as a TiVo...enjoy.

I don't know how many server devs I've talked to that are leaving Linux over mission critical bugs in systemd, one long time Linux admin I talked to was royally pissed as he had a huge Linux farm and the order just came down from the top to switch it all to Server 2K12 because of systemd,while others are desperately trying to bone up on the BSD way of doing things and trying to make sure their critical apps work so they can jump ship. THIS is what happens when the users have no voice, THIS is what happens when their responses are like TFA nothing but insults and attacks, you become "other" as your share drops, the devs move to greener pastures, and your support structure withers. Unless your PC is seriously weak sauce you could simply slap a GPU in it and play games just fine, hell I got customers with Phenom II X3s and X4s that have no trouble playing the latest games. Today you can buy GPUs in the $180 range that curbstomp both the XB1 and PS4 in the purty dept, and with both the XB1 and PS4 being AMD netbook APUs? They are really just DRMed PCs anyway. Finally from what I've seen the exclusives just aren't there, probably because games are getting so expensive to produce.
So I am curious, so far everyone I've asked that question to has been a raging Sony fanboy, that gets up to their Sony alarm clock, has a Sony stereo in their car, watches a Bravia TV and waves the flag at every opportunity...you don't seem like that so I am curious, what made you pick a PS4?

I have a couple of MMOs I play but there was areas where I would just get stomped, no matter what I did in these areas I just couldn't turn it around. Then I found some videos by guys that were actually good in the areas I was weak in so I watched them to see what they were doing right that I was doing wrong...and it worked, now areas I used to absolutely dread I actually find challenging and fun and I never would have figured out where I was going wrong without watching others try different strategies that actually work.
*-But as far as Pre-Orders? I thought Aliens: Colonial Marines and Watch Dogs would have killed that practice, after all now we can't even trust what we see with our own eyes as it might all be mocked up bullshit. If somebody wants to spend their cash sight (literally) unseen? How many vulnerabilities is there in Ubuntu 6? Debian Sid? Windows XP is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD and was designed to run on a Pentium II 400MHz with 128MB of RAM. If they are too damned cheap to upgrade or replace a PC that is a decade plus old why should that be MSFT's problem? Apple doesn't support the G3s and G4s either but you don't see anybody trying to claim that as any "proof" of anything.

So while I might look into one of these if they hit 12 cores or better right now I'd say grab one of the AMD hexacore or Octocores if you haven't, because once you remove the benchmarks Intel admits they rigged you'll find the FX8s trade blows with chips costing more than double the price, numbers which the GCC compiled Linux becnhmarks attest to.

And I'm not sure which "color" are you talking about, the backgrounds, taskbar, and windows are all able to be changed under appearance, are you talking about changing the colors of the actual icons themselves? I can see why they wouldn't have that, too easy to make it a monocolor mess that would be hard to use.
Meh I'm sure there will be a third party program that will fix it, just as I'm using 8gadgetpack to give me back my Win 7 gadgets like AllCPUMeter, works great.
That is not what the Insiders Blog has been saying, they were saying the subscription setting will be called something like "Enterprise" and will only roll out updates on a schedule or when the WSUS rolls them out, that the "Fast/Slow" will still be in WU, it'll just be under "Advanced" with the default on OEM PCs being fast but those that DIY and install or upgrade their own OS will be able to choose at install.
From the talk on the forums the current build IS in fact the RTM, they are now in the "bug fix and program polish" phase and the update speed is as they said currently under advanced, along with which server you want to use for updates (so you can use GPOs to add a domain server) and that works fine for me, IMHO users that aren't willing to even click on the advanced button probably need to be on fast while those that know enough about their OS to use advanced settings can choose what they prefer. Since I have network backups I've been using fast and I have to say I only ran into 1 bug (couldn't launch programs from start menu on one build) and they had the fix rolled out in less than 48 hours so I really don't see it mattering much to power users.
Since GOG is the ones selling the games it would be great if they chose a set of ports (like Steam) and just set the games to use that BEFORE they sold 'em. I have been using Galaxy since the AvP Alpha invitation only release and that is a big sticking point over Steam, with Steam it usually works OOTB without requiring the user to futz with ports and firewalls, Galaxy needs to do this as well.
But I have to give the GOG guys credit as other than that sticking point? Finding matches and jumping into game is surprisingly fast, especially when we are talking about a 15 year old game. If they can pull this off with the rest of their library? I think we may have a winner folks.

For those that haven't kept up with the Win 10 Insiders Blog with Windows 10 you have basically two roads...on one road you have "fast" which to make a comparison the /. crowd would be able to relate to? Think of it as the "bleeding edge" branch. That branch will not only get security updates but it will get the "latest and greatest" new features but in return they will have to deal with being on the cutting edge. Then you have the "slow" road, which would be your "stable" branch, those guys will only get the critical to important security patches, no optional or extra stuff, and from what the blog has been saying you'll be able to choose whether to get them when they are released or you can choose which day of the month you want 'em with a few clicks of the GUI.
So I don't see why anybody would bitch when this is EXACTLY what many here have asked for, those that WANT the bling and bells and whistles can choose that branch, and those of us that just want a Windows workstation without the extra crap? Its one simple drop down box away....sounds like Nadella has again actually listened to those that use his product and given them what they want, and you'd think after getting this response from the Linux devs when being told nobody wanted systemd? You'd think an OS listening to its users would be a breath of fresh air!
IBM was a perfect example of how MSFT's many early successes were based on the having the preceding phrase "And then the other guy did something REALLY fucking stupid" having been uttered.
Case in point IBM....OS/2 was a damned fine OS, ran rings around the DOS based versions of Windows, and could multitask like a champ even on a weak sauce 286....so what happened? IBM did not one but several REALLY fucking stupid things, 1.- When Intel refused to license the 386 for second sourcing IBM refused to buy it, instead sticking with the 286 (which they made) damned near until the Pentium was released. This meant the cloners were not only cheaper they were MUCH faster at a time where every MHZ counted, 2.- Those same cloners, which IBM absolutely had to have if they were gonna launch a mainstream OS? Well they tried to kill them by fucking them on the MCA bus (which caused the cloners to adopt the E-ISA bus which was literally an MCA slot turned backwards) and then if that wasn't enough? By the time of OS/2 V2, a time when the average cloner was paying less than $10 a copy for Windows in bulk? They demanded $200 a copy for OS/2! Needless to say it was treated as plague blankets by the OEMs so even when IBM offered it at steep discounts the OEMs didn't want it.
As for TFA? Its a small PC shop that has a repair guy that is either incompetent, getting a shitload of laptops without the restore discs (as some of the builders...cough Lenovo cough...rig theirs in such a way they won't even restore from the partition without a restore disc...that costs $30 to order) and just using some "Razr1911 Corporate Edition Keygen" or they are being forced by the owner. Don't think that is possible? I've actually gone on interviews and had PC shop owners want to know if I'm familiar with Windows Server and WSUS and when I'd state yes they'd tell me flat footed they wanted me to set up a server so every PC they sold would get updates NOT from WU but from them, one even saying "So we can use this disc" and whipping out the infamous Razr1911 XP Pro Corp disc.
So with that many hits? Its a shop, either a DIY refurbing PCs on the cheap or one of the reasons listed above. You'd think with MSFT wanting everybody to upgrade to Win 10 and this place using Win 7 (one of the 3 OSes that get upgraded) they'd STFU and be happy to have so many new installs ready for Win 10, I guess old habits die hard or some of the Ballmernator's buds are still working in that dept.

Lets just shitcan our browser that has made us all this money and do a top to bottom rewrite, fuck we don't need a 'plan B' because our shit don't stink and we are super geniuses!" which gave us Nutscrape 4, so called because it would have been less painful to scrape your nuts with a cheese grater than have to use that abortion for any length of time! It was so buggy if you saw 4 websites in a row without crashing the OS (yes not just the browser, it leaked so much memory it would BSOD the OS like it was nothing) it was a miracle, it was a fucking disaster!
So nobody had to "force IE" which just FYI IERadicator was free and would remove IE in less than 30 seconds, which was one of the things they busted MSFT for, the "you can't remove IE" bullshit, you took it because your "choices" was a free and not nearly as buggy IE, a buggy as fuck NS4 for $$, or ad ridden Opera, again unless you ponied up $$ but Opera did things in such a bizarre way that many websites (and yes this was before "works best in IE" existed) just came out all wonked, it was not fun at all in those days....so we took IE, not because it was great, but because the alternatives were MUCH worse. Now that there is choice wadda ya know, we actually choose and no browser dominates anymore...yay!

It was probably a problem with the corner junction box servicing the area, as several years ago we had a similar problem in one of my customers neighborhoods and it turned out it was a mouse that was building a nest in the box and gnawing on the wires.
You'd be surprised how often shit like this can be traced back to actual bugs and rodents, we had power knocked out to nearly a quarter of the city, the culprit? A squirrel had managed to get itself fried climbing on one of the large transformers and the surge blew the transformer, one deep fried squirrel shut down power for nearly 3 hours.

Eich and Windows 8 are NOT examples of the former but the latter, in BOTH cases people said "I do not like this therefor I will not use your product and will encourage others to not use it too" and the companies saw their users drop like a rock and CHOSE as companies in a free market to change their direction to increase sales, MSFT by coming up with Windows 10, Mozilla by firing Eich. And yes Virginia the Mozilla move had everything to do with sales, Mozilla gets their money from search, no users using their browser? No revenue.

If there is but one thing everyone should have learned from Heartbleed and Shellshock it is this....many eyes is a myth based on an "is ought" fallacy.
OpenSSL and Bash are the two most widely deployed pieces of code on the planet, bar none. If "many eyes" were true that fact SHOULD have made them the most vetted code on the planet....but they weren't, why? Because "many eyes" is an "is ought" fallacy in that because the source code IS there and it IS in wide use there OUGHT to have been at least one or more people with the years of training in low level code auditing that should have looked at the code and found the bugs and reported them.....this ignores the facts, which are 1.- The guys that can do low level auditing are very few, 2.- They are usually swamped with jobs that pay them, and most importantly 3.- Everyone is gonna ignore the code because they'll believe somebody else did it thanks to the "many eyes" myth.
This is why "many eyes" should be considered a harmful myth to allow to spread, since everybody just assumes somebody else has done the work when in reality? I bet if you looked at the number of downloads of the source for the low level code in your average Linux distro you'll find that nobody other than the guys that are actually working on the code have downloaded it. You want to know what is sad? When I'm sitting there bored at the shop I have installed Windows 7 on some pretty ancient pieces of crap I end up with on trade ins and ya know what? As long as its got a GB of RAM it'll run just fine, 10 minutes turning off any services they do not need and it'd run better than XP. I seriously doubt we are talking last PIIIs and first gen P4s in the British government, if my own local government (who had all theirs switched by cutoff, ended up with a mountain I needed to refurb) are any indication what you'd be seeing is a ton of first gen Core 2 Duos, Athlon X2s, maybe if they were really cheap (like our streets dept) some Pentium Ds.....all of which will run Windows 7, hell Windows 10 just fine.
As some here know just to see if Windows 10 was gonna be a Vista piggie or a "7 sweetie" I grabbed the absolute weakest portable I have, a 2011 AMD Bobcat netbook I use for service calls. For those that don't know what an AMD Bobcat is its a chip that was designed to compete with Intel Atom when the netbook hype was in full swing (and ironically ended up being the APU for the XB1 and PS4 with its successor Jaguar) and has performance roughly equal to a last generation Atom+Nvidia ION setup so we are talking a REALLY weak chip. How does the newest Windows 10 builds run on such a weak chip? It runs just fine,takes less time to boot than Win 7 and once I'm on the desktop its all smooth sailing.
So there really is no excuse for paying something like $15 million bucks just to extend Windows XP (which lets be honest folks it was NEVER that great an OS and wasn't even halfway decent until SP2, I would argue both Win2K and XP X64 AKA 2K3 Workstation 64 were better OSes) when I bet a good 90% of the hardware they have running would take both Windows 7 AND Windows 10 without requiring new hardware and with Windows 7 able to be upgraded to Windows 10 while keeping your programs and settings via WU? Its really a no brainer, they could run Win 7 now and once IT has checked all their mission critical stuff runs fine on Windows 10 just push out the upgrade. Hell Win 7 has XP Mode so they can't even use application compatibility as an excuse,so its sad and shameful all their citizens info is gonna be at risk just because they couldn't get off their butts even with nearly a half a decade of warning what was coming!
Actually I've been installing Steam more and more on computers owned by people that you wouldn't think of as "gamers" because they have casual mobile games that they want to play on their laptop or desktop as well as their phone or tablet. If MSFT makes it so Windows 10 can run these natively? I'm sure all those casuals would give the Windows appstore a boost.
You can get a gamestick with controller for $65 or you can buy pretty much any dual core (or better) Android tablet and use a wireless controller, Tigerdirect has so many they were selling a "buy one get one free" dual core tablet deal just the other day.
The problem with this idea is...well most mobile games really aren't designed to be played like a console, they are designed for touch tablets and for very short gameplay. This is pretty much the opposite of what those playing a console expect and so they are disappointed by the short gameplay, most of which is the FTP "pay to win" style which is further disappointing gameplay wise. I've tried a bunch of these mobile games and....yeah I can see why these things haven't taken off, most folks don't like playing games in 2-5 minute "bursts" and being constantly bugged for more money. Even when I've bought some of them through Steam, with all the extras included? The gameplay is still insanely short, with most seeming to follow a 3-5 minute "play on the shitter" model.
So if somebody asked me what kind of cheap console to get? You can get an X360 or PS3 used for less than $100 most places and you'll have better games and more fun than you will with these sticks and mini-consoles.
Then "Linux" is is about to become proprietary as Google is about to pull the last "E" of a EEE play on Android and lock it down behind the Paywall...errr "Playwall". They have dropped support for AOSP, started tying critical parts of the OS into APIs tied to the Playstore, its gonna be about as open as a TiVo...enjoy.

If anybody thinks the woefully underfunded Devuan has a snowballs chance in hell with Poettering grabbing more and more shit for systemd at an ever faster pace? Then I have a bridge you may be interested in, hell even longtime apologist of all things FOSS Robert Pogson likens Poettering to Putin in that no matter what he gets he's not appeased and his ego has grown so much he's now blogging about how Torvalds is a bad role model and needs to behave and you think a practically broke group of devs is gonna be able to compete with THAT ego who is backed by Red Hat's big pile o' cash? With zero influence or control the users only choice is what they are doing now....leaving. I don't know how many server devs I've talked to that are leaving Linux over mission critical bugs in systemd, one long time Linux admin I talked to was royally pissed as he had a huge Linux farm and the order just came down from the top to switch it all to Server 2K12 because of systemd,while others are desperately trying to bone up on the BSD way of doing things and trying to make sure their critical apps work so they can jump ship. THIS is what happens when the users have no voice, THIS is what happens when their responses are like TFA nothing but insults and attacks, you become "other" as your share drops, the devs move to greener pastures, and your support structure withers. I hope everybody enjoys "Linux, a subdivision of Red Hat" because RH has made it clear that's the goal, make Linux a VM running atop systemd to support their cloud computing initiative, because without any measure of affecting development? You really have no choice other than "their way or the highway".

Unless your PC is seriously weak sauce you could simply slap a GPU in it and play games just fine, hell I got customers with Phenom II X3s and X4s that have no trouble playing the latest games. Today you can buy GPUs in the $180 range that curbstomp both the XB1 and PS4 in the purty dept, and with both the XB1 and PS4 being AMD netbook APUs? They are really just DRMed PCs anyway. Finally from what I've seen the exclusives just aren't there, probably because games are getting so expensive to produce.
So I am curious, so far everyone I've asked that question to has been a raging Sony fanboy, that gets up to their Sony alarm clock, has a Sony stereo in their car, watches a Bravia TV and waves the flag at every opportunity...you don't seem like that so I am curious, what made you pick a PS4?
I agree with (*almost) everything you posted but would add that you and GP are missing the most useful (imho) reason to watch other people play....to learn.
I have a couple of MMOs I play but there was areas where I would just get stomped, no matter what I did in these areas I just couldn't turn it around. Then I found some videos by guys that were actually good in the areas I was weak in so I watched them to see what they were doing right that I was doing wrong...and it worked, now areas I used to absolutely dread I actually find challenging and fun and I never would have figured out where I was going wrong without watching others try different strategies that actually work.
*-But as far as Pre-Orders? I thought Aliens: Colonial Marines and Watch Dogs would have killed that practice, after all now we can't even trust what we see with our own eyes as it might all be mocked up bullshit. If somebody wants to spend their cash sight (literally) unseen? I'm all for people making their own choices but until we see actual real penalties for mockups and "vertical slices" I know I'm not trusting any game dev or publisher, I want to see the game actually running on real users' PC and hear from them whether it "is what it says on the tin" as the Brits say or if its the next A:CM or F3AR big pile o' shit.

BTW for those that say "poo poo, its for the devs poo poo" I would point out that the actual ones that made the mod get a lousy 25%, with Valve and the publisher splitting the other 75%...in what fucking universe is not even getting a lousy third of the money being made for what you worked so hard on considered a good deal? Nope, sorry, this fucks the gamers by giving every incentive with ZERO risk for the devs to just crapflood like greenlight, this fucks the good mod devs TWICE by making them compete with a crapflood AND by only giving them a pittance of the money, and if that wasn't enough it fucks the community because anything worth actually looking at would quickly be ignored as the gamers saw an assload of "horse armor" level bullshit and would learn not to even look at mods, just as many like myself now don't give greenlight games a second glance.
The only ones this would have been good for long run is the publishers, who would get money for basically nothing, and of course Valve who would make money on the initial sales AND make money when people stopped using mods and bought more games instead of continuing to get value from games they already owned with mods...but I'm glad to see that throwing a shitfit actually worked for once, I figured they pull a MSFT with Windows Mist&ke and just flip users the bird until the whole thing was a mess and then try to fix the damage once everything went downhill...think if we have another shitfit we can get Steam to clean up Greenlight and Early Access?
How many vulnerabilities is there in Ubuntu 6? Debian Sid? Windows XP is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD and was designed to run on a Pentium II 400MHz with 128MB of RAM. If they are too damned cheap to upgrade or replace a PC that is a decade plus old why should that be MSFT's problem? Apple doesn't support the G3s and G4s either but you don't see anybody trying to claim that as any "proof" of anything.
As for your other point its nothing but moving the goalposts and therefor meaningless, because we both know if the numbers were reversed the FOSSies wouldn't be arguing about what "level" the vulnerability is, which just FYI means exactly jack and shit as we have seen with tricks like the "WTF" virus you can use a low level vulnerability (in that case unprivileged user ID spoofing allowing the attacker to send a message) to then effect a higher level attack (user thinks message is legit, clicks on link provided which takes user to a page filled with zero day attacks) so the idea of "levels" really doesn't mean shit anymore.
