  1. Re:True Story: on Does the Octopus Hold the Key To Robot Design? · · Score: 1

I just wanted to say that all cats are not ruthless.

I have a Mancoon that lives with me and my family and is one of the smartest animals I have known to date.

Thus far, he will stay with my 2-yr old daughter whenever she is sick, and won't let her out of her sight. She prefers to sleep on the bed with me and my wife, or lay on the couch with us after work.

Also she will open the garage door to go to her litter box. If she can't, she'll find me or my wife to open it for her. Stormy also likes to drink from the faucet and will be: on the bathroom sink in the morning right when we finish brushing our teeth, on the kitchen counter before we finish washing dishes, and back in the bathroom when we start getting ready for bed.

I have never seen her drink form her bowl.

She will also PLAY with our daughter (2 yrs old).. This is truly different for most cats, as she enjoys spending time with our child. My daughter has often used Stormy as a pillow while watching a movie.

So there may be some slow cats, but there are usually a lot more slow dogs. Cats exhibit far more personality and adaptation to their environment on their own, without having to be trained.

Every new installation of Windows has IE as defualt browser and msn.com as the default home page, WITH a search bar.

And Google still keeps the market share. Even with a new toy, I believe they will stay on top.

I believe the idea of a wireless public network is great and hope it spreads to more areas soon.

  4. Re:Inevitable comment, but valid point.. on 18 Live Linux CDs -- In A Row · · Score: 1

I believe that increasing number of distros available is not a disadvantage of Linux, but more the evolution of software. Henry Ford said about the Model T, "You can have it in any color, so long as it's black." Now you can get an automobile in any style, color, price-range you want. Computers and OS's are starting to follow the same path. The best relation to Linux and auto's is that all almost all cars are powered by IC(internal-combustion) engines. So they all work basically the same way. All distros of Linux are powered by.. well.. Linux. But beyond that we get more customization. Saying there are too many flavors of Linux is like saying there are too many choices in anything.

If this is the case, then most of the human population would not be considered intelligent, artificial or otherwise. Look at the middle 50% of the population for where AI needs to be able to fit-in. If it can reach this goal, I would call it a blazing success.
