i too spent 30 bucks at best buy for mandrake 7.2...it was great. came with a huge manual and three discs. its graphical install was good and it actually made me alot more confident and competent with my PC and now i use pc-bsd and damn small (still have a winders box too). i have tried many other flavors since but i remember mandrake and smile.
why do we need differing flavors of pop, or more than one car maker, or shampoo? how about if we had one political party? i could go on forever...but why?
agreed! however, we should close all the tax loopholes and if they cry and want to leave for more tax friendly lands or outsource all their jobs we should sieze their assets. corporations are a license to print money without any personal responsibility.
well, the first thing i thought of was the implications. no moving parts. no wear. less stress on the parts and the device as a whole. with flash i believe it is instant on. cool. and if this guy is doing this in his spare time i have to believe that the big boys have something really innovative coming around the corner. 16 gigs, throw linux on it and think about having a full desktop the size of an ipod. usb wifi or maybe a micro mouse...i am just rambling but you get the picture. the WOW starts at doing it differently.
aren't really hackers...from the article 'Intelsat Ltd which allowed Tamil Tigers to use their channels has so far not disclosed who or which organization is responsible for up-linking this TV channel to a transponder in the Intelsat 12 satellite.' it goes on to say that 'GlobeCast ( www.globecast.com) is a leading global content management and delivery company. It is the subsidiary of France Telecom.' so they do know who is doing it and its a corporate endeavor. only reason they got caught is that they (the tigers) is that they did not have the proper papers. where is the hack?
i have had the same experience as Adebisi...(would rather say to the world "Some hacker gave me a virus" instead of saying "Im an idiot...")...not to deny that there are some super-talented people out there but i really think that Adebisi hit it on the head. we all talk about the bogeymen but that doesn't make him so...
i had a problem with my HP Pavillion (still under warranty)...i screwed something when i added some RAM...anyway, i had XP and Mandrake installed (it was a few years ago) and called HP: told them i blew up my PC (no boot), they walked me thru a few steps, said F-it, mailed me a box to ship it to them and they put in a new harddrive(might have just formatted the old), the RAM stick, and shipped it back. no questions asked. it is a shame that they are no longer so leniant in their warranty policies. thankfully, i have learned some since then so i really never talk to tech peoples anymore. and yes i still have the PC-it runs SUSE 10 and hums like a well oiled machine.
only a coward or a liar would cloak themself in anonymitiy. it seems everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too. dont want to hear about whistleblowers and the like being afraid of retribution. either stand for what you believe or die wimpering. and the checkbox for "Post Anonymously" should be removed from the comment page.
