  1. Re:Skip as many songs as we want? on Pandora Stabilizes, No Longer Completely Free · · Score: 1

Yes, those are good points. There are times though, that I'd like to create playlists of certain artists or genres, and not have any experimentation; for example if I'm having a dinner party, or friends over and want to listen to a more narrow focus. I know CDs and other media choices exist that allow one to do this, but it would be nice if Pandora also had that capability.

According to their FAQ, skips will still be limited to 6 per hour, even on the subscription model. One of the biggest things I don't like about Pandora - and I LIKE a lot about it - is that you can't really make a station how you'd like. You can't make a station that only plays Slim Whitman, for example. You can't replay a song you just heard. You can't specify it to play exactly a certain song when you want to hear it. If Pandora allows us to do those things, I'd subscribe in a heartbeat. Till then, I feel they're charging for too little control over what I want to listen to.

  3. Re:Pinball is too expensive... on The Last Pinball Machine Factory · · Score: 1

Pinball is not a game you can quantify by how many quarters you pay to play it. A good pinball player can play for at least 20 minutes and sometimes much longer. I've been playing for over 35 years, and can get free games out of most any machine. It is a skill game. With practice, you can play a game for a long, long time. The best one ever was Black Knight 2000. Those were the days...

  4. This is why I wait on Toshiba To Halt HD-DVD Production · · Score: 1

I have never been interested in being an "early adopter" of any product and this is a good example of why. I already have a standard DVD player and recorder and both of those are great improvements over the VHS players they replaced. My old fashioned TVs wouldn't show me any improvement with a HD format anyway, so when I get a HD TV set, maybe then (maybe) I'll buy yet another friggin' piece of hardware that will be made obsolete in 3-4 years. In any event, I'd rather read a good book than watch what passes for entertainment on TV.

I don't know what all the fuss is about - I slapped a Playstation controller into my toddlers chubby little fingers, right next to the cigarette and whiskey he was drinking. Then we went out and got matching tattoos. He drove.

My guess is that it will be the asteroid that we don't know about that will slam into us and annihilate all life as we know it. It'll probably happen on a Tuesday. I'll probably be on the toilet.
