that's funny, I read the hydrogen peroxide warning and (not having taken a chemistry class) had to research it. This inevitably led me to the problem with wikipedia where I eventually made the discovery that Michael Jackson's disease (Vitiligo) in fact causes him to create hydrogen peroxide which bleaches his skin.
You're quite right. The bottom line has always been that workers are independent of their employers, which is why when things get really bad they revolt and get slaughtered. Personally, if I refuse to live on credit how can I get a fare wage when competing with people that do? They will accept a lower wage and supplement their income with a "use the visa to pay the mastercard to pay the discover that we used to pay the second mortgage that was used to pay the student loans and the car" strategy. I can't compete with that, cause it's an illusion. Those people should have shored up their credit and started demanding higher wages years ago.
True, but there are also user interface designers and analysts and project managers and etc. Maybe a lot of them are students or fresh out of school, but not everyone that works on open source is a developer. Especially, for writers and graphic designers, but it seems like a more diverse group contributes to FOSS every year. For instance PJ at Groklaw - a legal writer.
point 3 is, I believe, the deal killer. patents and copyrights seem mutually exclusive. You cannot copyright a car and you cannot patent a plot idea. According to wikipedia the US supreme court ruled that you cannot patent an algorithm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_patent#Early_example_of_a_software_patent. This suggests to me that what is actual patentable is the problem that the algorithm solves or the implementation of the algorithm(s). Wait, I guess you can patent an algorithm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LZW. Bah, the whole thing is confusing.
I think the big problem is: "What if someone emulates a patent implementation in software?" I know that the incompatibility http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_patent#Compatibility caused by software patents stifles innovation, but I am curious about what software honestly would have been dead in the cradle were it not for software patents. Would GIF have been unprofitable if it weren't patent encumbered?
yea, but she lied, tried to hide the phone in her butt crack. It seems she got what she deserved. You have to catch a liar red-handed. You notice the lie automatically circumvents your first offense.
Someone mod this up, the Left needs to take Capitalism on as an agenda, take it away from the Right. Their base enjoys Capitalism, but does not understand that they are consistently voting against it.
That's a good point, but if we are producing things too efficiently shouldn't we be able to tone things down a bit? I mean I've been cutting back lately, all flourescent lights, rolling my own cigarettes, making my own espressos, really trying to learn how to cook, and a few other planned additions like replacing my sattelite tv with mythtv and just setting up my own programming, sewing my own clothes, getting some solar panels to help with the power, and this summer I'll be starting a gardening project in the back yard. Would the world collapse if everyone did these things? Wouldn't it cost less in oil prices if we only searched globally for things we can't get stateside? I personally don't think things have been done to be the best in a long time, maybe the cheapest, if you don't count replacement costs for things that break all the time, but then doesn't cheap stuff cost more in gas because it has to be replaced all the time?
Um, I've been running around trolling the internet for republicans all weekend with the main premise of either educating them or just getting them pissed off enough to look something up which is close enough. One of my main points is that about 100% of economists are capitalists, yet a majority (about 60-70%) are liberals. The point being that conservatism is not capitalism and capitalism does not exclude liberalism. When I face a snide remark I tell them to get a Pell grant (US grant for higher education) - it's funny but I keep waiting for one of them to say they already did, hasn't happened yet. So, my solution to the problems with the economy is to combat conservative viewpoints through online activism (trolling conservative sites). It's fun, but I do have to admit it's like arguing with thousands and thousands of twitters. Come on guys let's go save the world. http://www.humanevents.com/
"A gaffe is when you say there are 57 states in the union instead of 50."
I suppose you looked it up?
"And I guess "progressives" know all about reiterating baseless assertions ad infinitum. they've had 8 years of practice."
Oh snap, another argument killer. Wait, isn't a third of that line mine? Logic, does not involve redecorating language to serve your own ends, that is rhetoric or public relations. Are you a commercial or do you have a cognitive opinion?
Call a gaffe a gaffe. The rest is TIRED and BASELESS. Of course, regressives are quite used to reiterating tired and baseless assertions ad infinitum, it prevents the necessity of logic in an argument.
It's an admission of the nature of George W. Bush. See because, anything not Republican is by definition a polar opposite. BTW as a Liberal that would like to attend church I find the conflating of Religion and Politics to be both an act of false prophecy and a violation of the first amendment.
Yes I am beginning to believe that ALL conservatives are FAR out on the fringe. The republican fringe has been centralized.
Before the first atomic (hydrogen?) bomb was detonated there was concern that the reaction would not stop. Hmm, maybe if we use the little black holes for missile defense you know, use them to shoot nukes just as they detonate would they absorb the explosion?
Ahh, a little WAG, precision and presentation works much better than screaming "P does not equal NP".
I am not a professional programmer, I just think DAGs would work a lot better in this case where everything is external and deadlines cannot reasonably be made while relying on external resources.
The programmer in the back of your mind should. Why use a gantt chart which models time when you can use a DAG which models only the dependencies? Unless you are using the time aspect as a deadline for replacing the offending module.
Your sig is so on-topic, I just had to say something.

"And why should people have exclusive control over any idea."
I never said they should. Hard work, however should be compensated, which is the premise for the patent system.
I'll stand by my question. Would gif have been profitable if it weren't patent encumbered?

perhaps the judge was a comcast customer?
your quite right. The sledge hammer should be used to bust their jaw first.
What exactly is it that you are trying to say? Anything?

With legal fees tacked on, Drs that don't get paid on time, and a generally miserable experience for someone that was in ill health to begin with.

you missed the part where the ceo spends 2mil a month on crap like hotel rooms, for what undermining our economy?
I will take that as a "no".

I find your views both unpatriotic and regressive.
The demi-god argument is tired and baseless. "Barry" is not Charlie Manson.
Silly republican, the intended application of science is not a reference to "magic stuff".
