-Federal programs are started to encourage open source and businesses are not allowed to charge rediculous prices for their software. All media must be available for reasonable, non-profit usage by normal people for free. Every country on earth adopts these policies.
-Microsoft provides the funds for feeding, clothing and educating every suffering child around the world, and STILL has way too much money for its own good.
-Any hacking that does not cause damage to a private citizen (including but not limited to loss of funds exceeding $100 and the loss of a job by forcing the company to shut down) is considered legal in the name of free exchange of information.
-Script kiddies are rounded up and put through a training course to teach them how to be free-thinking, intelligent individuals capable of expressing themselves without excessive vulgarity. Once they prove that they do have brain cells enough to be helpful members of society, (I'm guessing about a 65% success rate if we can keep them away from Bad Stuff for a twenty-four hour period) we'll teach them how to actually HACK something.
-1337 is adopted as the official language of government. It just seems appropriate somehow.
Ah.... but I am just a dreamer...
My only real complaint... here it is...
So there I was, a naive little girl pouring through a magnificent leatherbound copy of Lord of the Rings. It's the battle of Minas Tirith... all hope is lost... when suddenly, a black fleet appears on the horizon, and all eyes, man and orc alike, are drawn to it... a great horn rings out, and with the first light of dawn, the banner of the White Tree is unfurled... the black fleet has come indeed, but it is the fleet of the king!
That is one of the most vivid memories I have ever acquired, and that was just from words on a page. "Wooooooooow can't wait to see that in the movies" I said. "It will be sooooo awesome!".....Sooo... years go by... Return of the King comes to theatres... and I am absolutely CRUSHED when the ship simply slides up to port and Aragorn jumps over the side.
"oh but there's still the extended edition" I tell myself, trying to hold back the tears...
I saw the extended edition last night. ("This morning" would be more accurate.) They STILL didn't fix it. They added the scene explaining where he went and found a black fleet, but it was still totally, terribly ruined. *sob*
There it is. My Great Complaint. Other than that, I salute it.
Hmmm.
I get: 1700 spams a week
Of these:
1500 are from "Texas Holdem Poker" sites that exploit a glitch in a blog's comment system... since apparently there's no "Disable emailing comments to the owner of the blog" option, I'm about to wade into the sourcecode and play mad scientist. These are, obviously, American in origin.
50 are Spanish. No idea where they come from, but possibly Peru, since this seems to have started after I logged into my mail service from a cafe' there. (The actual addresses are yahoo.com and such, but at least we know they aren't targetting the typical American.)
Sometimes I get one or two in Esperanto, but they're not advertisements for anything. They're more "announcements of what's going on in the Esperanto global community"
Several of those Nigerian-type things...
And the rest are typical, junky American spam.
For the curious... I live in America... but I am Dutch.
