And, of course, the problem with these sites is that no-one ever writes positive reviews. My hands up here for never having any major problems with ebuyer. In fact, everyone has been reasonable and I've never been stuffed.

  2. Good question ... on Municipal Wi-Fi Networks in London, Alexandria · · Score: 1

One of the replies to the original article wants to know specific details about the machinery etc. One of the questions is "How do they get the power supply for the access points?". I mean, more amazingly, how do they get the power to the little bulb at the top of the pole? The streetnet box near me is FUBAR'd for the last 3 months. It won't hand out an IP address. I phoned up streenet and they replied saying "That area isn't covered by wifi". Erm, yes it is. You've got a vandal target antenna on top. And it worked 3 months ago. "Oh yes, we must have then. We'll send the technicians out." Two weeks later, still FUBAR'd.

there's quite a distance, you know... (Multimap reckons 40 miles by road.)

So, what's that, an hour by car? It's just down the road then. Okay, your nearest sweet shop is truly 'just down the road', but within modern transportation it's just down the road. FFS, I could cycle that in just a few hours.
Brighton certainly isn't a suburb of London, but it is within the commuter belt now. Saying that, I saw some tv program a few years back where someone commuted from Scotland to London on a daily basis by train. I don't think I'll include that in the commuter belt just yet.

I've known quite a few people who commute from Brighton into central London. If I did that daily, i'd be happy to get sine stuff done in that hour. Hastings, just down the road from Brighton, has had a private co-op wireless network for some time http://www.feeed.net/[feeed.net], which must make the area cutting edge!

Personally, I'm not going to the US ever again, if it can be helped. Fingerprinted for going in from the UK for f***s sake. We should fingerprint *just* the US citizens in return.

I paid on the basis that I want an IP number. I think Skype could last. IP telephony will last, so "Who Dares Wins".

I've now got 4 numbers. How many do we need? I'd like the whole system to chill out and share a bit. Something that Skype has not done. Proprietary is bad.

Next we'll be asking how much you charge when a neighbour asks to borrow your bandwidth.

Well, my neighbour and her flatmate are pretty-ish so a month free.

Then I just charged a fiver as I didn't get any sexual flirtation or favours from either of these minxes. It'll be a fiver next month too, if I don't get lucky.
