I'd not be surprised if the EULA on the device prohibits removing the tracking feature.
Do you really 'own' the device, or are you just being licensed use of the software/firmware?
What about suborbital flights, aka the space shuttle, or the Apollo program..
They can make an orbit in a few minutes and last I checked, technically the shuttle is a space vehicle first and a plane second so It does fit into the same catagory as this aircraft.
The power output of the new P4 6xx series is supposed to be much much higher than these. Could'nt you literally fry an egg with just one of these $800 monsters?
3.7ghz P4 EE vs Athlon 64 3500+
223 Watts > 114 Watts

Their war is futile. Lol, you could compare the P2P community to the borg.
"Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated."
All of their new 'tricks' end up being incorperated into nexgen p2p apps. So whats the point; do they really want to fund the nextgen p2p apps by releasing research/specs/documentation on this?
You technically are volenteering this information because you could mute the call. I think this blurs the line as to what the company can use against you: i.e. insurance companies overheading what is said while your on hold...
What if you just got a DNA Test for a life threatening disease in the mail and you were calling to update your insurance policy and somehow they overheard that you were positive?
The same might hold true for cases against abuse, misleading the company, and mindlessly whispering your password.. Could ID theft be made an issue with this kind of system?
Kids tend to like technology but when it reaches that threshold of being too complicated they utterly turn off and look the other way.
Linux is great, "if" you can get them past the complexities (aka if they see the loading console they scream;P). With windows, everything is hidden and functionality is expanded as you become more skilled. Linux has the tendency to be complex from the second you install it (with a few notable exceptions: Fedora Core 3(installs and runs perfectly), and SuSe 9 (also installs and runs without having to do much to it))
As for software, in my opinion, windows has an edge over linux in that there are so many graphically oriented programs that suit kids.. KidPix for example (an old Mac app) was extremely easy to use and you could draw alot of stuff without having any experience with that app. The same goes for microsoft paint. Correct me if I'm wrong, but unles s your using wine to run mspaint on linux your stuck with GIMP and thats 'very' interesting to deal with sometimes (I prefer my copy of photoshop b/c of the interface).
Word processors come out about even, neither platform has an advantage in the UI. I havent seen any apps specifically designed for younger kids for linux, only windows. They dominate the market and this tends to flood out any potential linux apps.
The ReaderRabbit series, etc.. are very fun to play with (even with a kid) b/c its interactive, and in some cases different every time you play. This is what kids like, for things to be similar in terms of usability, and for there to be nearly no learning curve.
Once they get hooked on computer apps, it isnt too much of a stretch to expand that learning curve to higher values, aka from mspaint -> photoshop;) or nowadays that nice free.NET paint app. (Yes I bought my copy of photoshop and I intend on teaching my younger siblings how to use it. So far they love it:) )
Thats my 2 cents. The bottom line is that until linux gets its act together and hides all those 'complexities' from the average user, windows will hold the top spot for kid software/usability.
The more overbearing corporations, the better! At least with a little corperate friction and competition you will have options.
Microsoft has exhibited many times in the past that they care about money much more than customer (or goverment) satisfaction. Look at the EU case they were fined in, and the overseas incident where they were banned from selling software in that country.
There is no good corperation, ever! There are priorities, and 100% customer satisfaction is a myth for some-company that big.

Utterly ban microsoft from ever entering the commercial broadband market and we stand a chance of being able to run microsoft alternative products.
