I get the text ads to the right pretty much every time I open a mail. They're normally very well targetted, much better, in fact, than the adsense ads on my blogspot, even when it's the exact same text.
So no, your non-seeing ads isn't normal, unles my 3 gmail accounts are all acting weird.
I get about 20 real emails and 100+ spam emails per day (all my old accounts at my domains redirect).
Normally, gmail catches 99%, this morning when I logged in I had 13 spam mails in my inbox. Very unusual. Didn't read any of them, might have been weirdly formatted I guess.
It's not just Nigerians sending those things, though, I've had tem from all over, including eastern Europe. Besides, tey're not new, they've been going on for years, used to get them by snail mail back before I knew what this intorwebby thing was; sent to a registered business address. The phishing ones are good at times, but the nigerian ones? If you fall for them, you're too stupid to be online.
Satellites. Mining rights. Research facilities. Communications.
Back in the early days, people predicted space would almost entirely be a private project; there's a lot of money to be made out there, and governments aren't the people to be making it.
Besides, people want to go live on Mars. I'd pay the transit fee. If it was affordable. Affordability requires a market, safety requires regulations. NASA could be that regulator, well, it could be for US types.
The Archers is the only thing I ever switch off Radio 4 for.
Still, it's looking good. IF they keep going, I may even be tempted to get broadband in order to watch the few TV shows I miss being able to watch since I decided not to renew the licence.
Yeah, but it wasn't in use over here either; I'd never heard the term until episode one, took ages finding out what it meant (we had to find a better dictionary at school...)
Smeg wasn't used as a swear word at all in England until Red Dwarf, and still isn't, really. The Grant/Naylor used it as an innoffensive word that could be a swear word but would get past any censors.
I come from a part of England where accents vary by reasonable degrees 5 miles apart, although everyone's gone estuary now:-(
At work, we had some problems with IE and printing, I suggested to our IT guy he install Firefox. 30 machines, one download, very popular with the staff.
Your point was?
I doubt they can count unique downloads, while it would be good to know. Google will likely give us some stats about browser usage at some point, the proportion of browsers using Firefox will be a better stat than number of downloads anyway.
doesnt seem to get much attention is Lost
Sorry? I'm in a building with no cable or satellite, the wrong side of the hill for digital in a small backwater in the south west of England. Never seen the show, but I've heard of Lost.
Maybe you could consider, y'know, getting out more?
Firefly is one of the best series I've seen for a long time; what I caught on TV I loved, the write ups on the rest I read was good, so I bought the DVDs and they're doing the rounds of my friends.
Some people don't get it; that's fine, niche audience shows are supposed to work like that. shame Fox et al forgot the basic premise.
And after months of lurking, the inspiration to create an account comes from...
Have they resolved/explained the weird brightness differential between the orbits? The only reason I clicked on this story was the link to the book, no one else has mentioned it yet...

That your profile is still linking to it? It's completely OT and not relevent, but updating your profile may be an idea.
*goes to update profile himself, haven't updated current site for over a year...*
Why would you want to?

Radio DJs, at least in the UK and I believe the US, pay good money for broadcast rights. I just don't get why communist is a pejorative term.
