True...they do have the joe six pack pc guy at bay, and the corporate entities that are tied in...but for us nerds that actually build the servers and home pc's (or at least order them)...we will know better. I imagine that if this goes through as professed in the article that they will shoot themselves in the footsies a bit.
Either that or we could develop the Xecuter4 for use with the pc (including cool LCD front panel with switches).
What do you think Apple has to say about this? I don't think they would want to buy into their competitors scheme...but then again who ever thought they would go with Intel either?
I agree...that was an awful analogy...but I know where you were coming from. I was downloading freeBSD, not SCO - I'm not _that_ crazy now. It's on the box now, the box is happy and I'm happy. I did see where you can install SCO compatability, that's probably what this whole tiff is about...but who'd want that anyways?
I live close enough to tell you all that something already stunk there way before Microsoft stepped in. Just get a whiff when you walk down Burbon St.
PU!
Honestly, the city needs something. From reading the article and the city's public forum seems like their biggest hurdle is going to be getting workers now. They have to hire people from inside the perrish. And I'm sure there are a few who qualify, however, most of the people that live in the perrish aren't going to be skilled enough to run anything besides a store or a garbage truck, there just aren't enough full time residents there who can get the job done.
Once they relax that policy and you can live in, lets say Kenner, then maybe I think about helping out.
I worked at a place where the IT department went out for lunch on a daily basis and the director had parties for pretty much every holiday. I was the lowly UNIX admin in the engineering dept and I went with a few times. I thought it was a pretty good idea b/c for one you all definately are getting a break in the day. It was a good release of all the pressure and angst of dealing with cruddy users. And they could tell thier jokes in a crowd that would understand them. The best was when we went to the chinese place and I was taught that every fortune cookie saying had to be followed by "in bed."
I mean where else could you get this kind of quality information.
At my current job we are pretty talkitive and I've already went out and got pretty fubared up with a few of them. Think it's because we computer people so like to be part of a group. I'm far from an alcoholic, but it sure is nice to get butt wasted and talk about OC rings at my buddys NOC and IPv6 with the bs-ing network manager.
What is the world coming to? The next article we see is going to be DEAF SUE RADIO CONGLOMS FOR LACK OF ADA COMPLIANCE. This is ludicrous. There are some things I can't do, like sing...but I'm not going to sue the Kereoke guys if they don't want me to sing...as a matter of fact I think they would be doing the right thing. We all have our weaknesses and advantages and we can't sue somebody just because they aren't equal in every aspect. I'm going to sue the blind people because they can hear better than me (and they are going to be rich after this frivolus lawsuit). Think I'm upset? Well, yeah...I guess it all comes down to the fact that I think this is complete BS.

Time to buy stock in AMD. I imagine they'll be happy to support the market share that Intel doesn't want to.

Oddly enough I'm downloading the ISO's to install on our new server _right_now_ and I see this. Should I be concerned and put on SuSe or something?
