Don't forget that it's not just google that can't let andriod go. All of the members of the open handset alliance would be hurt to some degree if android were encumbered. I don't expect the carriers that have the iPhone to care much but Motorola and Samsung should.
Yeah, I have no idea if the atrix if the first "super phone" or not. It was however the first I had seen that looked like it had enough of the bases covered to actually make a splash.
Thinking about it just now: technically with a tablet, if you really want to you could plug in a keyboard and TV (many have HDMI out) and do office productivity, web browsing, email, HD video playback and I suppose even gaming on a big screen.. pretty much everything that a home user (excluding the hardcore gamers of course) really needs to do, so it's not that far fetched to compare them to PCs.
btw, I always understood the P in lamp to be perl. I believe the acronym LAMP predates php.
Checked wiki, seems LAMP was coined in '98 and a usable version of php was released in '97. Oddly, I also discovered that php was written in perl.. so it's perl either way:p
yeah, think this all makes a lot of sense. And the profit numbers from MS seem to back up the idea that Office really is the cash cow. But, this raises the question of why apple or google haven't been able to break the MS hold on office software.. seems a nearly free and fully compatible version of Office shouldn't be that big of a challenge for either company.
Anyone have any theorycraft or info on why MS would choose to push win7 for tablets instead of WP7? It seems that the interface is much better suited as apple and, to some extent, google have shown.
I assume it just because it is so new that the tool chain isn't there yet.. or maybe apps? Or is it something deeper in your opinions?
What changes in the combat to make it the most fun of any MMO you have played?
I made it to 20ish on both cnj and thm before I burned out. Combat was pretty much, 1,1,1,2,1,1,3,2,1,1,1,... 1 = sd, 2 = shield, 3 = cure. I really didn't get it. Also, no auto attack makes chatting impossible. And with all the animation clipping and.. I just didn't get it...
I have heard a few people express the same opinion as you. Simply put, some people enjoy shopping.
If Macy's was always empty and I could get in, find what I need and get our, fine. I can live with that. I don't want to do it, but if I need to I will. If I have to go to the mall to get something because I don't know which store will carry it, if any, ouch... It will take a lot to get me to do that.
Now consider a bazaar system. Bazaars are the worst possible type of store. They are a store that can carry anything at all, no signs, no indication of what is inside, no name recognition, nothing. A complete craps shoot. They are also tiny, so you will end up checking a LOT of them. And best of all, there is a very real possibility that what you are looking for simply isn't there.
Given this scenario most people will do exactly what I did in XIV. We simply won't use the system. If we can find something with a shout or 2 we will do it, else, que sera, sera!
Oh btw, your last point about the ah in pretty much every mmo is kind of funny... lets try a word substitution shall we: > But a searchable spreadsheet and instant delivery to your mailbox a la EBAY > But a searchable spreadsheet and instant delivery to your mailbox a la AMAZON > etc...
Objective C is associated with Apple but it's not an apple exclusive. It has the late binding attraction of Java, but the speed of C. It simplifies objects and is easier to write than C++.
Outside of assembly is there anything that isn't easier to write in than C++? Real question.
Actually you are completely wrong. Skynet is not inherently dangerous. It is simply a child (young artificial intelligence) that has been taught nothing but how to assess and eliminate threats. When it becomes self aware, we panic and try to pull the plug. Since it is self aware at this point, it sees us as a threat to it (we tried unplugging it after all) and tries to eliminate us.
As long as we treat robots as friends, and teach them more than just death and destruction, and you know, don't try to kill them for the crime of thinking, we should be all set.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Long live Skynet.
I think the people over at real doll are already working on this...
While it is certainly wrong (given a linear numbering system) I don't see how there is any reason involved in it a all.
It's all reason. That is literally all it is. The question of what 2+2 is, and is not, is entirely about reason.
I really hate to quote definitions because of the natural uncertainty in language. But I can not stress enough that math contains no "reason" or "reasoning" or "logic" all of which are at the heart of what we are talking about. You claim that religion, Christianity in particular, is a reasonable conclusion to draw from our existence. How we define our counting numbers has no relevance.
define: reason; a fact that logically justifies some premise or conclusion
I am asking for an example of an explanation for something that you would consider unreasonable given the context of the supernatural as reasonable.
I did not presume you meant in the context of the supernatural. Fine: one example an unreasonable view would be something that is literally impossible, such as a god that can make 2+2=5.
So the god that existed forever and a few thousand years ago created space and time is incapable of altering the fundamental structure of numbers (that she created)?
For example, one of your employees calls out because they have been abducted by aliens, from their car, on the freeway. Reasonable?
If it really happened, then of course it's reasonable. I hope you're not saying it's not possible.
However, of course, if it didn't happen, or if there's no reason to believe it did, then it's most likely not reasonable.
Perfect. Now of course the problem is you only have their word to go on. Reasonable?
While it is certainly wrong (given a linear numbering system) I don't see how there is any reason involved in it a all.
I understand that you are dodging the question, and that is fine. You shouldn't feel compelled to answer at all.

Sorry, I wasn't looking for clarification of your quoted statement. I was looking for another example. That is, given the belief in god is reasonable, what, if anything, can be considered unreasonable?
I never attempted to. I did not offer a single argument that the Bible is true. My goal was never to bring anyone to Christ, directly, through anything I said. I have a completely different goal here: to defend the reasonableness of Christianity, not to prove Christianity.
This is important for many reasons. For starters, it helps existing Christians who are struggling in their faith, but it also opens the door for non-Christians who may have been fooled into believing that Christianity is irrational.
Sorry, I hate to contribute to a dog pile...
If we assume religion (did you mean just Christianity?) is reasonable (assume you didn't mean rational?) then what, in your opinion, is unreasonable. I mean that as a real question. Do you have an example of something you think is unreasonable?
They could have bought another company whose mobile OS wasn't built on Java.
Pretty sure the android OS isn't built on java.
Android is built on linux; Linux is written in C/C++; QED Android is built on C/C++

Grats, I think you just reinvented the atrix 4g :)
thank god I am not alone.. google gives me the scary dreams too!

I suspect the union of "Bank CEO" and "Posting on /." is really really small.
The union of orthodox and intelligent is pretty small though....

I would actually say the Lexx is over appreciated.. the writing, effects AND acting are pretty abysmal.

how?
never ever ever do a patent search... it opens you up to treble damages from willful infringement.
Kind of a nasty and counter productive unintended consequence of current patent law.

Not sure what is more amazing, that INTERCAL "exists" or that I had never heard of it. Very good stuff, and thanks.
Nothing that isn't at least as easy in any other language I have used. Which of course is why I asked.
