Think about massive Java appservers where you've got thousands of concurrent users with each user using one or more threads. The points about graphics and other algorithms made by others are valid but aren't *really* the target market for this chip when you look see that the company's partners are java app server vendors (BEA etc).
Damn. The SP line of ITX boards used the CN400 chipset which supported MPEG4 decoding (in linux at least). Looks like the CN700 will only do MPEG2 which is great for DVDs but not so good for DIVX/XVID.

Static typing makes it impossible to change the types (not the interfaces) of public apis of libraries and utilities. You can't change everyone's code because it is everywhere. In a dynamically typed language, so long as the interface is the same, the third party code works as expected. In Java or C++, one has to change the version (or work *very* hard to maintain both the old and new interfaces using a variety of tricks).
You may have a small point for some C++ apps but you're completely wrong WRT C# and Java. Both C# and Java do code binding late when a program is loaded rather than when a program is compiled. You can change a type or extend an interface as long as you don't break the existing interface and your program will continue to function fine. C# and Java preserve metadata, binding is based on "string" names not based on old techniqnues like method offsets.
Nice idea and maybe applicable sometimes but the reason China is growing economically is because China has, for the past decade, been experimenting with capatilism. They call it "one country, two systems". The opening and gradual deregulation and of markets is what has created the economic growth in China.

It's not about power, it's about current. You could have 10000V across a microfine wire as long as you kept the current low enough.

They aren't moving anything out of the kernel that couldn't have already been replaced with a kernel mode driver (i.e. a video card driver).
Moving to usermode will just improve stabiltiy and make writing drivers easier.
