  1. Re:Why make the leap in the first place? on Major League Baseball Dumps Silverlight For Flash · · Score: 0

Maybe because Adobe refused to port Flash 8, 9, or 10 to any platform other than Windows and Mac OS? My Wii only runs Flash 7, my phone can't handle Flash, and I expect the browser in my DSi won't handle Flash either. What was needed was an open platform that would provide the functionality of Flash but be ported to every browser out there. I was hoping Silverlight would be that platform, but I guess it is not yet ready for prime time. And if "Flash is already on 99% of computers out there", then why did I just have to upgrade both my Mac and PC to Flash 10? (Disney's Pixie Hollow requires Flash 10, and I have an eight-year old daughter.)

Yes, the machine copy and original would quickly diverge. Also, the machine copy would not be affected by changes in hormones, blood sugar, disease, etc. But then, the you that you are today is different from the you that you were yesterday too. And if the machine me gets an unlimited internet connection and no requirement to work for a living, I'm sure he would be quite happy to download porn all day... unlike the real me. Knowing me, we'd probably quickly grow to hate each other.

On the other hand, if that is the only way that I or at least a simulacrum of me can be there to observe my grandchildren's weddings, will then that is pretty cool, isn't it? Sort of depends on how much control the machine me is allowed to have over it's own environment. But yes, it is more like hiring a watchdog that thinks a lot like you do to watch over your family than it is like being there yourself.

I would expect the fine detail of the neural pathways to be created more by environment than by genetics. Also, it is time-variant, and not just run on electrical impulses of neurons -- there are lots of chemicals that also affect brain function. You need more than just a map to simulate a brain. Although this is a good step in that direction. Like functional MRI, this is mostly just a tool to facilitate further understanding.

You do so. Their original $2,000 check bounces and they have your $1,000. You're out $3,000 and YOU OWE IT, baby! Zecco made the error. Zecco made the error of extending credit to people who did not warrant it. Those users then made the mistake of gambling with other people's money, therefore the customers should eat any losses. But then they should also get to keep any gains. What I don't understand is how Zecco can legally make panic sales on a customer's account without the customer's knowledge or consent. Seems to me they would have been better off contacting the customers and working with them to back out the trades in a prudent and responsible manner, rather than forcing sales and virtually guaranteeing a loss. Good luck collecting from the customers that you screwed over that way!
