    The difference between Bezos and Trump is that Bezos pays for his own penis extenders, whereas Trump wants YOU to pay for his (The Wall). I don't have any problem with Bezos doing whatever he wants (legally) with his own money.

  10. The only reason why you wouldn't want everybody to know how you manage diversity is that you know your system is broken and doesn't work, and that anybody analyzing it could also figure that out.

    Raspberry Pi is Linux and it's cheap AF. Also reasonably well supported if you know how to use apt-get and pip. What's not to like?

    Programming jobs are the easiest jobs in the world to ship offshore; most software can be written literally anywhere in the world. STEM education is still important, but you're better off training for a career like medicine or pharmacy where you literally have to be in the same room with your customer -- those jobs can't be offshored! Also, automation is going to take a lot of jobs away... shouldn't automation eliminate programming jobs too?

    Walmart is cheap, and I can order online and pick up the next day in Oregon, avoiding the Washington sales taxes I would have to pay if it was delivered. But trying to get someone to help you at Walmart is a lost cause!

    If they didn't charge $50/year to sign up for their club, I would. I simply don't buy enough books to be worth it, and books are significantly cheaper at Costco and on Amazon.

    I thought they had saved themselves with the Nook (unlike Borders). But their business model is fundamentally flawed; you can't compete with Amazon prices while paying high-end department store lease costs! In December, it looked like they were trying to be a toy store to bring margins up, but that didn't work for them either (and Toy-R-Us is going out of business too.) Can anybody compete with Amazon?

  20. I think the biggest difference between the government space programs and the private space programs is the private programs will be advertising supported. Much of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch was just designed to be good TV; next time expect the rockets to be emblazoned with Durex ads!

  23. For the past 60 years, the electronics industry has been telling people that stereo sound is the way to go... now Apple is selling a monaural sound system? (Granted, in theory two of them can be used for stereo... if you don't mind paying $800 and seeing them argue over who answers the audio commands)

  24. Picking your own locks is legal. Picking someone else's locks probably require a locksmith license. And possession of locksmith tools I believe is illegal unless you have a locksmith license. (But many auto parts stores sell the same equipment the locksmith uses to open cars after people lock their keys inside... will I get busted for buying them?)

  25. Oh... so his "crime" was reported the existing flaws in the Popcorn Time content protection mechanism? Wouldn't giving him a reward and then fixing the defects make more sense?
