    You know nuclear power does nothing to change the total amount of nuclear material on/in the Earth, right? It just tends to concentrate it all in one place. As long as that one place isn't my back yard, I'm fine with it. We just need to find a good place to store it where nobody is planning on living for the next million years...

Wind and solar are viable, they just don't lessen the needed amount of fossil fuel capacity needed, because you still need alternate power production for those times when it's dark and the air is still. However, in conjunction with hydro power, wind makes a lot of sense -- which is why hear on the Columbia River, we're building out lots of wind turbines close to the Bonneville Power dam. Solar? Not such a good idea here, it rains all the time. Might be a good idea in Eastern Oregon.

    Pretty sure Trump promised West Virginia coal miners their jobs back, meaning he's promising to bring coal consumption back to it's historical peak levels, despite the lack of demand. Sad. Disgusting little idiot, isn't he? People are saying he may be brain damaged.

    Yeah, those coal minors in West Virginia that lost their jobs, the jobs Trump keeps promising to bring back. They obviously don't stand the real problem: coal mining isn't down because of environmental activism, it's down because of lack of demand. Fact is, natural gas power production is both cheaper and much more damaging to the environment.

    Just because you organize your taxi service over the internet doesn't mean your exempt for all other laws, regulations, or requirements for a taxi service. This applies to every other dot com whose business model is basically "Do a business that has been around for decades, but using the internet!" AirBNB? You need to follow the same rules as any other room rental agency. Amazon? People buying things over the internet still need to pay sales tax. Backpage.com? Soliciting prostitution is still soliciting prostitution.

    I'm pretty sure it will only take one owner to figure it out and post it to the 'net where google can find it. Interesting that they can improve performance through software updates, it makes you wonder what they were previously doing to limit performance. You can keep going faster by increasing the voltage to the motors, but at some point you are limited by risk of the motors melting. Sounds like they are shaving away at the safety margins, meaning eventually somebody is going to damage one of their electric motors.

    Diamond is harder to form into wafers than silicone, but they are experimenting with diamond deposition to make diamond substrates. Last I heard, it was a rather time consuming.process.

    I expected the Russians to have man-made diamonds out that were indistinguishable from naturally formed ones by, well... now. At about 25% of the current cost of diamonds. One thing is for certain: diamonds are a sucker's bet for investors!
