    Please, I am not interested in reading someone's blog here, where you select the topic AND give your opinion on it. You select the topic and summarize it, then EVERYONE responds with opinion, commentary, etc

    Is any of the following untrue; a) the lawyer wants to withdraw, b) persuaded Thomson to sign a declaration that she wouldn't object, c) the lawyer published such declaration, d) Thomson is now without legal counsel, e) the RIAA is opposed to continuance, f) Thomson has insufficient time in acquiring new counsel and preparing a case and g) therefore will most probably have to go into court against the RIAA without legal representation.

    You buy Microsoft software, and you buy it once and for all, the cost that we tell you is the total cost for ownership

    You don't buy the software, you license it until the next version of Windows comes out and your software becomes incompatible with that, and your computer has virtually no resale value as the software has to be totally wiped else you risk a visit from the BSA. And according to Gartner the TCO for a company to support Windows was $9,784 per anum per computer (1997). You think it's come down in the mean while :)

    Moving websites is a good time for purging embarrassing stuff, especially the comments section. One wonders what else is missing especially from the archive. Ah, I just read this bit; the archives were erased in the move. It takes willful action to lose your own archive. At least they didn't go back into the archive and replace the negative bits with adverts, like some other online newspapers do. Job well done I guess :)

    It's curious that the user with the 'no track pad support' problems never got back to the forum with the model name. From the screenshots it does seem to do what it says on the tin :) And according to the article HyperSpace taxes the processor and memory far less than does Windows, so why would that particular Acer be running hot ??

    I installed SRWare Iron the other day. According to the publishers, it's basically a Chrome de-Googlified

    Google Chrome Installer extracts into C:\DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS..\ so I tried running it as a portable app. Runs ok, now how do I get Flash onto the device. There is a reference to flashplayer-win.xpi, but when I try and extract it, I get corrupt zip file ..

    I wouldn't need noscript and an adblocker if the advertisers weren't such annoying fucks with their dynamic scripts that freeze the page while they load and run, and their talking flash adverts that freeze the page while they take ages to download.

    I thought OS/2 was a joint project between IBM and Microsoft? Perhaps that explains Borlands decision to commitment to OS/2 too seriously. MS also leaned on IBM to drop OS/2 else it would be forced to pay higher prices for software. See also IBM chief: Microsoft killed OS/2

    I thought the original Turbo Pascal was a one-pass compiler that ran from memory as compared to Microsoft's Pascal two pass compiler and linker that ran from floppies. Turbo Pascal also ran as an IDE. Microsoft Windows didn't even exist at the time. So the logic of how Borland challenged Microsoft's dominance in the application-development market escapes me.
