In the western world we are definitely lax comparing to China (or Japan), but then it's not just for the sake of being sovereign, it's more likely about supply and demand. China got enough people, where as in Western world (flat birth rate?) there's a certain degree to rely on immigrants to increase labour capacity and tax base, and do the 'dirty work', where as in China there's no need for that.
I'm from Canada as well but one of the thing that is always a hurdle for us is the channel to market, that many SMEs are very localized/regionalized. If you're looking for stable job and good quality of life, yes. If you're looking for big business opportunity, then probably not.
You call this dumb phone? Seriously? QWERTY is for texting; MP3/Ogg is for music listening; a camera for picture. To me a dumb phone is telephone that makes voice call and maybe a call display.
Ok for folks who considers prohibition is the problem, please help me understand how it can be implemented, and if there's any line that needs to be drawn.
The project seems pretty cool and exciting but OT, I'm sure many of you feel the same - the kickstarter stuff supposed to be a grassroot project support platform. I'm not sure if many projects have the resource to script and produce such a super slick video that is almost like an info-mercial.
McD food's crap - there're people who like it, people who doesn't know better but still eat it, and who despite it...etc.
I don't like much of pop music either but, music is expression, not science. If it comes from the heart, it doesn't matter if it uses 4 or 100 chord varieties.
I understand your sentiment. But at the end, we can wish for whatever we want but they "own" the content and they will do whatever they want. I just do OTA and at odd times, buy a DVD or something. I did have Netflix subscription and kinda like it. If they kill it then what can I do? Honestly there's a whole lot of stuff to do than just movie/tv stuff. Upwards of $100/month cable fees to watch 1% of what I really want to watch doesn't click with me. I opt for non-TV activities.
There's validity in the ActiveSync thing but it's not the only cause. Isn't it ironic that MS fail even worse in the smartphone race. OTOH, I found that the current playbook has some sort of "work silo" storage so that it can be wiped in case of 'accident'. It's sort of saying yeah you can use it for personal too. Kinda too late...
But if you don't want kangaroo pick you for a boxing fight on broad day light, you should choose Canada.

Alberta's unemployment rate is 4.6%.
Like homeopathy?

Yes winning - profit by a big margin. Numbers? Maybe Nokia or RIM still have more out there.

...OTA is cheaper than cable and that's all I need.

Not arguing here but the swallowing of it has to do with its spherical shape vs coin or paper clip?

My son loves to 'chew' on our iphone cables : )
I'll vote for SPAM. Long overdue.
Ditto. Stuff that doesn't matter. Slashdot???
I agree that's fun but maybe they should consider shrinking the park to achieve that purpose.
As an individual user... why? This should be something that I shouldn't have to worry about and the change should be transparent.
It's important to point out that they're at everybody's backyard too.

One can argue without end on what's "innovation". Summarizing: "we fail to build what customers like".
I was a Palm fan back then. Curious on how exactly Palm died - cell technology was dumb phone nokia king back then... what happened?
I had the BB Torch 1st Gen at work and the fact that I have iPhone, the BB Torch is on my desk since day 1.
