Really, seriously, why does this matter? And why is it slashdotted? Should we all convert our servers to IIS because a few big companies did? Post some real news already.
Really, now slashdot can stop pimping articles about the next iPod killer. It seems like we get 3 or 4 announcements each month. Instead just post this article as evidence that there probably won't be one for many years. This is an example of everything that is wrong with all "alternative" mp3 products and services and everything that is right about iPod/iTunes. Can we move on now?
I have a windows server box at home that does a remarkable job of acting like a big hard drive for my Dual G5. It stores my music, files, and even has a tape backup system. That's how windows helps me be creative.
I want to meet Bill! Choose me!

I can only imagine. Seriously, we need some divine intervention by the lawyers. This is not good for anybody who uses the web for anything. I say bring on the lawyers.
As somebody who writes in Flash, I can't image how awful this Adobe Sandwich is going to taste. What's next? Will they buy Publisher and Front Page from Microsoft and integrate that functionality into my beloved Flash. I'm sick already.

Really, windows 98 is now six years old. For a lot of reasons besides supporting a silly music machine, it might be time to upgrade.
Something is going on that you're having that much trouble with iTunes and the iPod. You didn't mention your exact problem here, but the vast majority of users probably aren't starting up their 4x4's.
I'm sure it's not news here, but I do think that Creative has one thing in its corner that is driving its sales more than any other. They sell cheap microdrives.
Last year I purchased a MuVO2 4Gig and ripped the drive out to use the Hard Drive in my digital camera. Before doing so, I let my girlfriend use the Muvo2 to see if she wanted me to put some memory back in it, so she could use it to work out with. After one session in the gym, she said she'd rather listen to nothing than have to use that (free to her) product. Pretty sad when somebody would rather run on the treadmill musicless than use your product.
I should point out that she was used to using my iPod. Last week, after she saw the iPod Shuffle announced on TV, within 5 seconds she said she was going to buy one.
I love Creative's marketing scheme though. They saved me at least 175.00 to 250.00 on that microdive I bought from them. So I threw away a bit more packaging, so what. The enviromentalist in me feels guilty about it, but maybe Creative should just put the Microdrive in the bubble pack and skip the music player.
Go Creative.

I agree. Kill me already.

..... and ships Tiger to "Team 99," hoping the crack team will tell them what features to include in Longhorn 2009.
