this isnt going to happen tomorrow, or next week, or next month. training staff to use an entirly new system takes a lot of time and money. i will be supprised if we see this take effect before this time next year
if original decoders cant decode a standard mp3 now, technicaly, they shouldnt, since it should be classed as a different format.
extended and changed

the mp3 format has been extended and changed so much, and had stuff added and removed (vbr, abr, and tagging.... tagging shouldnt have even been there, since mp3 is a datastream not a container), over time. its hardly the same format now.
i have a comment direct to the christian hippies who are planning this campaign.
who the hell asked you? my kids are not your kids, my friends kids, are not your kids, my brothers kids are not your kids... who are you to tell us about what they should and shouldnt be doing? how about, while your planning and acting on these campaigns, kids think its a good idea to use your tactics to get what they want... how does that make you feal? your what is wrong with the world, you are slowing down the progress of all man kind.
please get a life, and leave everyone else to their own.
wait, microsoft DID do this self defence system, that blocked anything from hooking the kernel, and various other parts of the OS, which prevented malware from entering, but the bottom feeders at Symantec. and hippies that didnt like this idea the world over, did nothing but complain, and force MS to remove this, to allow virii to enter, so Symantec had something to do.
Google will be forced to pay $32,600 for each day it displayed the links of the plaintiffs
linking to an external site doesnt break a copyright, if the site that is being linked to has the system in place to disable a page after a certain amount of time (which is what the whole argument is over). so, google can link to the pages all they want, as long as they dont display any of the material longer than it is publicly available on the original site.
could this be a "Mr Nice Guy" aproach to getting in to companys hardware specs, to point out all the holes and flaws within the current driver sets for all os's and the hardware its self?
most mobile phones run on symbian, or windows mobile now, and if they dont, they have J2ME. and last time i remember, all 3 of those have an sdk you can write any app you feel like.
i hear people preaching about open source, open standards and how its evil to charge people for software and such.... i wonder if these phones/pda's are being sold for cost...
technicaly, all torrent sites that only run the.torrent files could also be illegal in australia, since they (in some way) link to copyrighted material.
why is this news? if i remember right, windows has always had this functionality, the NT line has anyway. there are even applications that will create the preloaded ISO for you, like nLite
i have the phishing filter on, ie7 installed, xpsp2, i ran that search, and many others... i get the images as anyone should. i think this is just some blind bashing to try and get on slashdot.
if it is, what i think it is, all it needs to do is record the speach with a microphone, flip the waveform, and play that back through the speakers, which would cancel out the wave created by the speach its self. this would rely on very low latency soundcards, so it can process the audio in time to playback the canceling wave, so the person hears nothing, rather than some horrible screaching sounds

if microsoft did this in windows, it would be evil, and would get them an anti trust case, but ubuntu do it, and its fiar and just....
smells like a bit of a double standard here.

i thought upgrade, ment, you need to upgrade. your not upgrading if there is nothing there to upgrade.

the creationists are gonna be pissed off about this one
because the father of those who stole the music has money, and is able to fight back against RIAA's bullshit law suit.

why is the rendering in firefox still so slow, and ugly looking and why do you not use native objects and still try to draw your own?
...needs a less stupid name
i remember seeing something like this on futurama, and i remember it not going to well for them.
teaching social networking to someone who is sat at home on their own on a pc..
this was a little out of the blue...

..but they didnt have time because they were plugging memory leaks and stealing features from IE7
google arnt responsable or liable for content they did not write, so why is this google's fault?
