I downloaded it and gave it a try, but I'm going to stick with DuckDuckGo. In my experience the results have been as good as or better than Google and if I don't find what I'm looking for, it also gives links to do the search in Google or Bing.
As a developer I could care less about Java itself. It's the new Cobol.
It's in an awkward spot. For anything high level I'd rather just use Python. And for the few cases where Python's not fast enough, it's easiest to jump down to C++ and write a module I can call from Python.
The best thing about this new release are JVM improvements for dynamic languages, which should help out projects like Jython, JRuby and Scala.

What skills? Setting up an LLC requires filling out a questionnaire and paying a $50-$100 (depending on state) processing fee. Most states let you do it over the internet. It takes like 10 minutes.

The C++ standard library and STL are terrible compared to the standard libraries of any other modern languages. Qt actually makes C++ programming fairly painless.

Can you imagine a software developer having to say, "I'll write some software for you in exchange for some of those apples you're growing?" And you'd have to do it everywhere you wanted to buy something. Interesting idea, but I think I'll stick with money.
As for leeching off society... money is convenient for doing that, too. If I walk into a store and say, "I want to buy a pound of apples, here's $5" the clerk doesn't have to look me up in a database to know I've done my fair share. Presumably I earned the $5 by providing something of value to somebody at some other time, but the store clerk doesn't have to worry about it. All he needs to know is that I have $5.
