LOL.
Reminds me of a time I was stuck in training class. It was drill-holes-in-skull boring.
We were using NT workstations which the instructors had put on a subnet without internet and of course, they had removed all the games. Well, except two. Pretty soon everybody wanted to play. So I obliged.
The teacher came back from lunch and was absolutely astonished to find the entire class playing with either the exploding banana game or the snake game. They were SURE they had purged the games and started demanding to know who had installed this illicit stuff.
LOL. Clueless idiots.
I got in a lot of trouble.
Gorillas is still one of my fave games.
Nah, demo discs or 'sample levels' can be great. My first PlayStation came with an awesome demo disc. I did not have the money to go out and buy a lot of new games but I did have that freebie and let me tell you, it got played over and over and over and I got a HELL of a lot out of it. Most of those games were titles I would not have normally thought of playing but hey, free is free. The demos really sold me on the system.
Some of those demo titles were at the top of my list when I went game buying later on.
My Xbox came with no demo disc. I had to get my own games to get started, and I got used games so we're not talking about a lot of money, but I still would have liked to try a bunch of different things via an official Xbox demo disc. You know, maybe I might see some games I'd never think of buying or something.
Big Dog: "I want the toilet seat."
Little Dog: "I want the toilet seat."
Big Dog: "_I_ want the toilet seat."
Little Dog: "Ehh... hmmm... I want the toilet seat!"
This is only a ploy by the Pres to see if anyone really, really, really wants to keep the HST. By itself the rescue is not sexy enough to support on its own merits. It won't provide jobs or fight terrorism, or find oil, so it's automatically unimportant.
If people start raising a stink about it, the money will come back.
If there is no outcry, if people don't fight for it tooth and nail (and make no mistake, this is going to be a fight of legendary proportions becuase Bush doesn't want to pay for the rescue), then they can get away with not having to pay for a rescue. And then they would get to claim people just didn't want it badly enough. Q.E.D.
I think one trick to pull right now would be to put collection cans in every public school room. Let the kids speak with their pennies and dimes.
It will probably not raise much cash but the it will make a freaking point that Bush cannot ignore.
Marvel has reported these profits in fair detail in previously filed SEC reports.
Looks like they have two choices:
If they try to evade Stan by now saying they made no money, then they're gonna have to restate earnings going back four or five years which will cause the SEC to clobber them, and Marvel stock will tank.
Or they can write the man a damn check and be done with it.
Make no mistake: they will try to appeal and appeal and appeal until they win, the judgement is set aside, or Stan dies. I do not expect he will get a penny while he is alive.
Piracy is one thing -remember, easy game piracy was a major factor in the success of the original PlayStation. Sony probably sold double the consoles that way.
Another factor for the Xbox is that it is finally reached a mature stage where the publishers are finally pushing the machine as hard as they can, decent games are everywhere, used games are cheap as hell, and the online stuff is actually working.
It has finally all come together and that's why it is damned hard to find an Xbox in stores. I know, cause I tried to but one last weekend and nobody had any in stock. Demand is such that used boxes are going for only $20 under the new price. The things just do not depreciate! Frustrating for console buyers and stores but MS should be happy.
The new box will be coming out this year if the rumors are true but I think the first Xbox still has a couple years worth of legs left in it and more if the new one is not backward-compatible.
I know MS loses money on every box (aww....) but it seems a shame to drop it like a stone in favor of the new one, which is probably exactly what they will do; MS is really good about abandoning hardware devices on a whim.
No, they will NOT call it Xbox 2, because Xbox 2 is immediately less than the PlayStation 3.
3 is better than 2. Even if everyone knows that is not the case, 3 > 2 will still be wandering around in the brain of every potential customer.
Don't name your chipsets after a lousy light pickup truck, i.e. the GMC Sonoma. Same as the Chevy S-10 basically.
GMC recently replaced the Sonoma with the much better "Canyon" truck. It even sounds better.
Sonoma = rolling rust heaps.
Just build decoy cooling towers everywhere.
Imagine the look on the terrorists faces after they attack a "nucuuler plant" that turns out to be a fake cooling tower over the local Waffle House.
Hash browns!
How long before Nintendo partners with MS and bails out of the console wars?
How long before Samsung buys a stake in Xbox?
How long before Apple teams up with Sony on the PS3? (yeah, I know that one has already been chattered about)
How long before EA tries to buy Nintendo and/or Xbox?
There are many mergers coming. Bet on it
