i guess intel wants to plunge us down the 32 bit dual core path. on the other hand AMD has a mature 64 bit solution and is therefore more comfortable head us down the 64 bit dual core path. we are currently (slowly) transitioning to 64 bit (single core), and are about to transition to dual-core, so why cant the market behemoth make the mental leap of skipping 32 bit dual-core all together?...Me thinks its cos intel wants to slug us all with a second round of upgrades in 3 years time when they hail 64 bit dual-core as the...second coming...

"worlds largest solar tower"? its will also be the worlds first non-prototype solar tower, 1km tall. i'll be travelling down there from Sydney to monitor its progress. -5 Troll modifier, well at least i got my opinion out :P

...well im sure you understand the potential. instead, ive just been reading an article about the huge difficulties facing the viablity of fuel-cell vehicles. my green heart has been prepared to wait 10~15 to drive my first, but by what the article says, it will probably take longer (goverments and organisations can never be trusted to deliver on time), and even then, they'll be very expensive to buy AND refuel, not to mention lousy performers. So do you know what im getting at? ...many climate experts agree that we are only a matter of months (10~40) away from the point of no return for dramatic, long term climatic disaster and its consequences (numerous experts say we have even passed it). given the 10~20 years until fuel cell transport is available, people must not be allowed to fall into the false sense of security that "fuel cells will save us". the most viable technology for now is the battery to power cars. most of us have read about or seen them, and they do the job exceptionally for 99% of vehicles; the electricity must be generated by renewable energy sources. if you know someone who is influential or have access to a motor corp. executive, please reason to them that 20 years will mean the life or death of much of what we enjoy today. we need solutions NOW, not in 2 decades. i hope Altairs claims are true as it would be another addition to the already compeling argument for battery driven vehicles. P.S. i can't avoid being dramatic, i do not apologies because this is what i beleive to be the truth

  15. hardware unpredictability isnt software NPRDCTBLT on Unpredictability in Future Microprocessors · · Score: 1

what i means is, hardware unpredictability is different to software unpredictability. i would feel much safer with software unpredictability (altho not ideal) as it is easier and more cost effective to fix. i would like to come up with a good analogy here like "theres a one in a billion chance that an asteroid would destroy earth, but when your on the smelly end of the luck stick...". it isnt exactly easy to make secure, reliable, consistant etc.software on /predictable/ hardware as it is, let alone on /upredictable/ hardware, however non-critical or buffered the app may be. in conclusion, i would welcome a 'tru-random' co-processor which is physically seperate from the 'predictable' chip and is only used where random-ness is /required/.
