Removing youth from pro-social environments like this only promotes hatred of "the man" and forces them into hiding. Once in hiding, they gain anti-social attitudes resulting in activities far worse than loitering in public places (where they did no real harm in the first place).
1. Just get any disk.
2. Format with a FS that allows filesizes as big as the drive.
3. Create a contiguous flat file on the drive.
4....
5. Realize you were trying to reinvent a wheel that took >40 years to make in the first place?
Something else to consider would be the effect of a crash on the "external battery". TFA doesn't address this and if the substance isn't stable you might get a small version of a punctured Li-Ion. (Small fires on/around the vehicle are not good after a crash)
Might be a tech to watch but with the "still pretty far from commercialization" problem I don't expect to see this anytime soon.
Mars (along with Venus) do not have a magnetosphere in the same way Earth does. They have ionospheres that operate in similar fashion but the magnetic field only deflects a bit of the solar wind.
I've been using the nightly builds for awhile and this feature bugged the hell out of me. Give it some time and it will grow on you. When you open a link in a tab, you don't have to go looking toward the back of the list of tabs (helpful if you have way too many open).
After using it for a while, I feel that it's more natural way of doing things.

I'm also in LaRC. UC provides its help desk with instructions for setting up wireless on Ubuntu. If the instructions don't work for your hardware don't bother calling the support. As mentioned elsewhere, just visit your school's recreational computing or LUG if you need help.
I am a programmer. The first thing I thought was "if Alpha can find the GDP of France divided by Italy, what is its programming potential?" Could someone create an input string to offload calculations and save their own CPU-time?
Will they prevent large calculations to prevent any "App Engine" like functionality?
... (more than why they are not running anti-virus software) is why they are allowed to carry on objects that might accidentally pose a threat to the ISS and/or the important research taking place.
... I have noticed this trend. I play better when I'm on the red team and now I guess I know why. Whenever I am on blue team, however, I have the player skins of red team set to blue. This offers consistency no matter what team I end up joining.
Does the software distinguish between real faces and say something like a print of the face? Nothing is ever going to replace direct user input via keyboard.
I have been compiling (or at least trying) this code for about an hour and a half now on my Arch Linux box. I've run into 24 errors so far, all of which I have been able to fix. I was thinking this code was pretty new but had no idea it was this needy of fixes.
Reminds me of this video of a cop chasing off some kids just trying to be kids.

Some fun reading. I just read it while going through old Daily WTF posts no more than 2 minutes ago.
Look at the world today. Perhaps we are ex-meteor-dwelling overlords.

Just found this video, clearly shows the laser in action at the ALTB.

Looks like it was only part of 4chan and the blocked parts are unblocked again. No news here.

is if I get a free copy of the documentary if I sign up?

Bullshit.
Commander Keen (DOS), Battle Frogs(NES), and a few *nix boxes do us just fine. Who wants a PS3 when we have a cluster of P2's?

I read this first and thought he used the wrong form of effect/affect.
Ah, but their onerous DRM does affect piracy: It creates new pirates where there weren't any previously!
This might be what (s)he meant; yet, when considering the original post, effect (as in build/create/generate/etc) works equally as well.
Sounds like a good verb.

To fix problems in the filesystem, would you have to run ButtFSck?

Anti-virus cannot be your only line of defense.

As long as about:mozilla shows up, I'm happy.

Duh... 42. Now we just have to figure out the cosmological question.
