Ouch. In my case it was Queen's Greatest Hits, on continuous repeat for the duration of the restaurant's operating hours. The effect of the endless repetition was nauseating and depressing, and probably one of the main factors that contributed to my short tenure. That and the atrocious pay.
If Apple are only getting 2% of the PPC CPU's produced, where the hell are the rest going? CIA server farms? I've certainly never come across one, having worked on a staggering variety of PC and server platforms for the past 10 years.
A few thoughts on this: (1) The hysteria this has caused appears to have almost Slashdotted Slashdot itself - for the first time in memorable history, pages were not served nearly instantaneously. (2) Could this decision have something to do with the fact that the PowerPC architecture has favoured the next generation of consoles? I'm sure I read somewhere that Apple has been fighting for a 3GHz+ PPC CPU, but been unable to get one? (3) And finally, from a non-developer perspective, does it really matter? As a long time Wintel user, I've found Apple's latest offerings increasingly attractive in recent months, but the platform shift has always been a bit... intimidating. Perhaps this will give Apple the edge they really need to achieve high volumes?

SBC have made a bad name for themselves down here in South Africa. Until recently, they were shareholders in the local telco service provider. They have often been blamed for the extortionist rates the local (evil monopoly) telco charges, both for domestic and international traffic.
The only people who could accurately verify that statement would probably have to have worked within one of the concerned organisations. Their withdrawal happened very much at the same time that the deregulation of the local telco market was announced.

Just as I received two 7920's, with a third on it's way, and placed a $3000 order for their Enterprise software. Strong the forces of irony are.
